You don’t have to pick one: check both. Amazon’s October 2026 Prime PC offers include games redeemed through Epic Games Store alongside GOG, Amazon Games, and Legacy Games offers; Epic also runs its own weekly free-game promotion. The better claim is the game you want to play, provided you claim it before its deadline and know which account or app will hold it.
Prime Gaming and Epic offer different kinds of free access
Amazon’s current offer is branded as Amazon Luna, though many players know the PC promotion as Prime Gaming or Free Games with Prime. Amazon says Prime members continue to receive rotating PC games to claim. These are downloadable PC offers, and the delivery route can vary by title.
That is separate from Luna Standard, which provides cloud games to stream rather than a PC copy to claim. Amazon’s October 2026 update describes more than 80 games in the Luna Standard catalogue at that time; the catalogue is rotating, so that figure is not a permanent size. Amazon says Luna cloud-delivered games are available in 14 listed countries, while rotating PC game offers continue for Prime members everywhere. Epic’s own free-game promotion is a separate storefront offer. Epic says its free game changes every Thursday at 8 AM PT and is available to claim for seven days. After a successful claim, the game remains in your Epic library. A game you did not claim during its promotion is not added retroactively; you would need to catch it if it returns in a future offer. Amazon’s October 2026 PC games and redemption routes
Amazon Game Studios published its October update on October 6, 2026. It lists ten newly added PC games, with claim dates and the storefront or app used for redemption. The dates below are the dates Amazon lists; the announcement does not give each offer’s exact expiration time. Open the current Luna claim page to check the live deadline and availability in your region.

The list shows why “Amazon versus Epic” is not always a choice between two separate libraries: some Amazon offers are redeemed through Epic. Amazon’s October 2026 Luna update has the offer details. Because claim windows can close, check the live offer page rather than assuming a listed date means the game is still available.

How to decide which free games are worth claiming
A free claim is most useful when the game suits you and you can access it through the account or app where it will live. Use these checks before spending time on an offer:
- Game fit: Claim titles in genres you enjoy or have a real chance of playing. A growing library is not automatically good value if the games go untouched.
- Deadline: Epic documents a seven-day claim window for its weekly game. Amazon lists October dates for its monthly PC offers, but not the precise expiration time for each one; verify that on the live Luna offer page.
- Account setup: Epic requires an account with two-factor authentication enabled to claim its free games. Amazon’s PC offers may require a separate storefront account, a code redemption, or the Amazon Games app, depending on the game.
- Where the claim goes: Check the redemption route before claiming and keep track of whether the game belongs to Epic, GOG, Amazon Games, or Legacy Games. An Amazon offer redeemed on Epic is an Epic-library claim, not a Luna cloud-streaming game.
- Download or stream: Decide whether you want a downloadable PC claim or cloud play through Luna. They are different products with different access conditions; cloud availability is geographically limited.
How to claim Epic’s free game
- Prepare your account: Sign in to an Epic account and enable two-factor authentication, which Epic requires for free-game claims.
- Open the current free-game offer: Visit the Epic Games Store free-games page during the promotion’s seven-day window. Epic says its weekly changeover is Thursday at 8 AM PT.
- Complete the claim: Follow the offer page’s checkout or claim prompts while signed in to the account where you want the game.
- Confirm the library entry: Check your Epic library after the claim. A successful claim remains there; a missed offer is not automatically added later.
So, which service should you check first?
Start with the games, not the brand. Check Epic’s weekly offer and Amazon’s monthly Prime PC list, then claim the titles you actually want while they are available. If you have Prime, Amazon’s offer list is worth checking even when a title is delivered through Epic; if you do not have Prime, Epic’s standalone weekly promotion is the relevant one. Neither service is a universal winner on the evidence available here: the offers rotate, and a title’s value depends on your taste and preferred library.
