What is a bullet heaven game?
Valve’s tag wording, reproduced in PC Gamer’s 18 May 2026 report, describes Bullet Heaven as “The opposite of Bullet Hell; Focus on upgrades while automatically attacking hordes of enemies.” In practice, expect combat built around surviving groups of enemies and improving your character or build, often while attacks happen automatically.
That is a baseline, not a promise that every game plays the same way. Some may ask more of you in movement, active aiming, or build planning. Genre and Steam tags overlap: the official Vampire Survivors Steam page calls it a time-survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements, and uses store copy describing it as “The supernatural indie phenomenon that lets you be the bullet hell!” Its user-defined tags include Action Roguelike, Bullet Hell, Roguelite, and Singleplayer.
What should you check on a Steam store page?
Combat, progression, and visual style
Read the description and tags, then inspect screenshots or video. Look for how attacks work, how much movement or aiming is involved, what ends a run, and whether upgrades persist between runs. Screenshots help you judge screen density and visual style—important if a crowded screen or rapidly changing effects would make play uncomfortable.

Player modes, controls, and accessibility-relevant options
Confirm whether the game supports solo play, local co-op, or online co-op, and check its listed input methods and language support. For example, Vampire Survivors advertises local co-op for up to four players and lists mouse, keyboard, controller, and touchscreen support. Those are features of that listing, not guarantees for other survivors-likes. If you prefer a PC game controller, verify controller support on the exact game page before buying.
Operating systems and minimum requirements
Compare your computer with the requirements for the operating system you plan to use. As one title-specific example, the Vampire Survivors page lists these minimum Windows requirements: Windows 10 64-bit, an x64 CPU with SSE2, 1 GB RAM, DX11/DX12-capable graphics, and 2.5 GB storage. Its macOS listing specifies macOS 10.14 or later and Apple Silicon or Intel x64. These figures are not a genre-wide baseline, and store requirements may change.
DLC, bundles, and current store details
Check whether downloadable content is included, optional, or sold separately, and read what a bundle contains before paying. The Vampire Survivors page displays separate DLC and bundle options; contents and prices can change. Prices, discounts, reviews, and tags are also time-sensitive, so treat the live listing—not an older screenshot or recommendation—as the current source.
How to compare two bullet heaven games
When choosing between candidates, compare the same details on each game’s own Steam page rather than assuming a shared genre label means shared features.

Can you refund a Steam game if you don’t like it?
Steam says you can request a refund for nearly any purchase, for any reason, but its standard conditions for games are a request within 14 days of purchase and less than two hours of playtime. Steam’s refund policy was last updated 23 April 2024. If you are outside those conditions, you can still submit a request for review, but approval is not guaranteed. - Open the page for the exact game and edition you intend to buy.
