Who is Tony Driscoll, and what does he lead?
Paramount named Driscoll President of Paramount Games Studio in a June 5, 2026 announcement, before the Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition closed. The announcement describes the studio as bringing together Paramount and Skydance gaming operations. Its stated structure includes Skydance Games as a publishing label and Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media as development teams. Paramount’s announcement presents games as a core part of the company’s content strategy, rather than simply an extension of film, television, or streaming.
Driscoll described the change this way: “This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games – not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming.”
Does Driscoll now run Warner Bros. Games?
The cited announcements do not establish that Warner Bros. Games reports to Driscoll or that he personally runs it. His confirmed title is tied to Paramount Games Studio, whose announced scope covers Paramount and Skydance gaming operations. The Warner Bros. Discovery closing announcement confirms the acquisition, but does not define a post-close reporting structure for Warner Bros. Games. So describing Driscoll as the head of all Skydance gaming, including Warner Bros. Games, goes beyond what has been publicly confirmed.

What does the merger mean for Batman and SpongeBob games?
The combined Skydance portfolio spans DC properties such as Batman and children’s and animation franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants. That breadth helps explain the “Batman to SpongeBob” framing: franchises that once sat within separate company portfolios now belong to the same combined corporate group. It does not, by itself, announce a new game, a change in development, or Driscoll’s direct responsibility for either franchise’s games.
What was the Warner Bros. Discovery deal worth?
Skydance announced that the acquisition closed on October 6, 2026. Its closing release says Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders received $31.01666668 in cash per share. The separate $110.9 billion figure is a rounded, debt-inclusive valuation, not the cash paid to shareholders: the Associated Press described the takeover as valued at $81 billion and the total as nearly $111 billion including debt.

Skydance also set a target of at least $6 billion in run-rate synergies within three years. That is management’s target, not a saving already achieved, and it is not a games-specific figure.

The merger announcement says Paramount+ and HBO Max are intended to unify into one service “over time,” without specifying a launch date or product details. The Associated Press reported no immediate change to the services at closing. The available announcements do not establish subscription pricing, app migration plans, or what catalogs will be available in a future combined service.
