Use the Xbox Accessories app to adjust an Elite Series 2 controller’s stick response curve. That changes how stick movement is translated into input; it is not the same as setting a game’s deadzone. If you want to ignore tiny movements near the center, look for a deadzone setting in the game itself. The app is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11.
Adjust the stick response curve in Xbox Accessories
- Open the Xbox Accessories app on your Xbox console or supported Windows PC.
- Select your Elite controller, then open its configuration or profile controls. Create or edit a profile if needed.
- Choose the left or right stick you want to change, then adjust its sensitivity curve.
- Make a small adjustment and test it in the game you play. If that game offers its own deadzone control, adjust it separately and test again.
Microsoft confirms that the Elite Series 2 supports adjustable stick sensitivity curves and saved profiles through Xbox Accessories. The navigation above is a practical workflow; the more detailed path is described in a Microsoft Community answer, while the Xbox Support page does not expose its full instructions in the available page view. Deadzone and sensitivity curve are different settings
Deadzone
A deadzone is a range of stick input around the center that a game or application ignores. It can keep very small movements from registering. The game, rather than the controller’s sensitivity curve, determines how its deadzone works and whether you can change it. Microsoft’s developer documentation describes deadzones as a way for software to decide when analog input is large enough to count as movement: XInput documentation.
Response curve
A response curve changes how physical stick movement maps to the input delivered to software. Changing the Elite Series 2 curve can make the stick feel more or less responsive, but it does not set a precise deadzone. Microsoft confirms curve adjustment in Xbox Accessories; the available official support-page view does not establish that any named curve corresponds to a configurable deadzone.

What to do if the stick moves while untouched
A game deadzone may filter small center readings, but it cannot repair worn hardware. Microsoft notes that analog center readings can vary because of manufacturing differences, mechanical wear, and other factors. If the stick continues registering movement when untouched, settings may reduce the effect, but they are not a guaranteed fix. Microsoft UWP gamepad documentation.

The Elite Series 2 includes a tool for changing thumbstick tension across three settings. Tension is mechanical resistance, not electronic sensitivity or a software deadzone. The full Series 2 package includes the adjustment tool and additional thumbsticks; the Core package includes fewer components, so check the exact model and package before looking for accessories.
