The available evidence does not verify that a Lenovo Legion Go S is 14% off, identify which configuration the claim refers to, or confirm a matching Amazon offer. Nor does it support a blanket claim that the Legion Go S beats every Steam Deck on price and performance. Here’s what the named models and published tests do establish.
Was the Legion Go S 14% off for Prime Day?
That specific discount is unverified: the available sources do not establish a sale price, regular price, product SKU, or Amazon listing for the claim. The event wording is also inaccurate for an October promotion. Amazon dates Prime Big Deal Days 2026 to October 6–7, while its Prime Day 2026 preview gives June 23–26 as the dates for Prime Day. Neither Amazon page verifies a Legion Go S offer. Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days announcement and its Prime Day preview establish event timing, not product pricing.
Without a dated listing and its exact configuration, there is no sound basis to calculate or repeat a 14% saving. Treat the headline discount as unconfirmed rather than as a current deal.
Which Legion Go S and Steam Deck are being compared?
“Legion Go S” refers to multiple configurations, not one fixed set of specifications. Lenovo lists versions with AMD Ryzen Z2 Go or Ryzen Z1 Extreme processors, and editions running Windows or SteamOS, alongside differing memory and storage options. Lenovo’s product page and its PSREF specifications are useful for identifying the configuration; the cited PSREF record for model 8ARP1, for example, lists the Z2 Go as a 4-core, 8-thread processor with a 3.0–4.3 GHz range. That specification applies to that record, not every Go S.

The Steam Deck also needs a model qualifier. Valve’s cited APU description is for the Steam Deck OLED, which uses a Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 graphics. Do not silently apply that description to every Deck configuration.
A useful comparison therefore names both devices and checks the same region and currency, sale date, memory and storage class, operating system, warranty, and new or refurbished condition. Without those details, neither the price comparison nor the performance claim is sufficiently specific to guide a purchase.

What do the performance comparisons show?
PCWorld reported roughly 20–40% more performance for the Ryzen Z2 Go Legion Go S in the games it tested. That is a publication-specific result for a particular model and test set, not a guarantee across games, settings, or Legion Go S variants. The report is PCWorld’s comparison; its percentage should be read in the context of the named games and test conditions, rather than as a universal advantage over every Steam Deck.
Windows Central also published a comparison of the devices, but results from any review remain tied to the models and conditions tested. Windows Central’s comparison coverage is additional context, not proof of a current deal or of a single winner for every buyer.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide whether a Legion Go S is a better buy
- Identify the exact Go S configuration. Confirm whether it has a Ryzen Z2 Go or Z1 Extreme processor, which operating system it runs, and its memory and storage.
- Check the offer at checkout. Record the seller, condition, region, currency, final price, and date. Compare that with a Steam Deck of similar memory and storage in the same market.
- Match the performance evidence to your games. Prefer tests that identify the game and settings, rather than relying on a generalized performance percentage.
- Choose for software fit as well as speed. Lenovo says the SteamOS edition provides access to the Steam ecosystem, including a Steam library and Steam Cloud. That is Lenovo’s product-page description, not an independent assessment. A Windows configuration and SteamOS configuration may suit different software and storefront needs.
On the available evidence, it is not possible to confirm that the Legion Go S is 14% off for Prime Day or that it beats the Steam Deck on both price and performance. PCWorld’s Z2 Go results indicate a performance advantage in the games it tested; whether a specific Go S is the better purchase depends on its exact configuration, a verified price, and the buyer’s games and software preferences.
