Report the video through the platform where it appears, choosing the category that matches the harm—not simply the fact that it was made with AI. A fabricated official game announcement, an account impersonating a developer, an AI voice copying a real person, and copied trailer footage raise different issues and may need different reporting routes.
Before reporting, identify what is wrong
AI use alone does not establish that a video violates a platform rule. Focus on what viewers are being led to believe, whose identity or material is being used, and what outcome you are seeking.
- Misleading presentation: The video presents a fabricated trailer, feature, release date, or announcement as an actual event or official information.
- Impersonation: An account or video falsely appears to be a game studio, developer, publisher, or other identifiable person.
- Privacy or likeness: The video uses a real person’s face or voice without consent. The affected person may have a separate privacy route.
- Copyright: The upload reproduces specific protected material, such as trailer footage, artwork, or music. This is distinct from a false claim or an idea about a game.
- Scam or other abuse: The video uses a fake game promotion to solicit money, credentials, or other action, or involves harassment or another specific violation.
Save the direct post URL, account name, platform, and post date before filing. Keep the relevant claim and surrounding context, and briefly note why the video appears false or unauthorized. This is a useful preparation checklist, not a universal platform form requirement; available controls and menus can change.
Choose the right reporting route

These routes are not interchangeable. Copyright protects particular expression, not every idea, fact, prediction, or misleading statement about a game. TikTok explains that distinction in its copyright policy. Do not use a copyright form as a generic misinformation complaint.

How to report on YouTube
- For a misleading post or impersonation: Open the video or channel’s reporting controls and choose the closest accurate policy category. YouTube’s impersonation policy says unauthorized impersonation that may mislead viewers is not allowed and asks users to report policy-violating content.
- For a video mimicking you: If the video features you or AI-generated content mimicking your likeness or voice without consent, consider YouTube’s separate privacy complaint process as well as any applicable policy report.
YouTube also describes creator disclosure requirements for realistic altered or synthetic content that viewers could mistake for a real person, place, scene, or event. That disclosure guidance is not proof by itself that a particular video violates a reporting rule. Avoid reporting a video solely because it uses AI or lacks a disclosure if you cannot identify a relevant violation.
How to report on TikTok
- For misleading AI-generated or edited media: Use TikTok’s report option on the video and select the closest applicable category. TikTok’s video-reporting guidance directs viewers who believe a video violates its Edited Media and AI-Generated Content policy to report it.
- Describe the misleading feature: Explain the concrete issue—for example, that the video presents a fabricated announcement as an official real-world event. TikTok’s integrity and authenticity guidelines describe misleading AI-generated or edited media in terms of alterations that could mislead viewers about real-world events. TikTok says it may remove misleading or unlabeled AI-generated content in applicable cases; a report does not guarantee removal.
- For copied material: Use TikTok’s separate copyright infringement report only if you own the relevant rights or are authorized to act for the owner. Identify the particular expression allegedly copied—such as a music track, artwork, or trailer recording—not merely a game idea or a false announcement.
TikTok warns that intentionally misleading or fraudulent copyright notices may be denied and could create liability. File a copyright complaint only when you have a plausible rights basis.

How to report on X
- For impersonation or manipulated media: Report the post, profile, or other eligible content using the in-product reporting controls and select the category that matches the concern. X’s authenticity policy covers deceptive impersonation and manipulated or out-of-context media.
- For copyright: Use X’s distinct copyright complaint route for alleged unauthorized use of protected material. The process also addresses counter-notices.
X cautions against submitting duplicate or false reports in large numbers. Report the specific post and evidence rather than organizing repeated or unsupported complaints.
How to report on Facebook, Instagram, or Threads
Use the app’s current in-product reporting controls and choose the category that describes the actual harm, such as impersonation or misleading content. Meta’s April 2024 announcement described labels that provide context for AI-generated content across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, alongside continued fact-checker involvement. It does not establish that every misleading AI game video will be removed or that every app has a universal, dedicated AI-report category.

What to include, and what to expect
- Include the direct URL, account name, platform, and date if available.
- Identify the specific statement, identity, or material you are concerned about, and explain briefly why it appears misleading or unauthorized.
- Use copyright reporting only for specific protected expression and only if you are the owner or authorized representative.
- Keep any confirmation or case reference the platform provides.
- Do not fabricate evidence, make claims you cannot support, or submit repetitive mass reports.
A platform may review a report and respond with a label, a distribution intervention, removal, or no action, depending on its policies and the circumstances. Meta has described labeling as one approach; TikTok says it may remove certain misleading or unlabeled AI-generated content. Neither outcome is guaranteed for an individual report.

The U.S. Copyright Office describes ongoing examination of AI-related copyright questions, including copyright in AI-generated works and the use of copyrighted works for AI training, but that work does not decide whether a particular upload infringes. See the Office’s AI and copyright materials.
