Short answer: Nintendo confirms that Order of the Sinking Star supports Switch 2 handheld play, but the official materials reviewed before launch do not confirm its frame rate, resolution, graphics options, in-game remapping or game-specific accessibility features. The Canada storefront lists an October 8, 2026 release; some regions are due to receive it October 9.

What is confirmed about the Switch 2 release?

Nintendo lists Order of the Sinking Star as a digital Nintendo Switch 2 game published by Arc Games. The Canada listing gives an October 8, 2026 release date and an estimated download size of 18.9 GB; Nintendo UK also lists October 8. These are regional storefront details, not a guarantee that every region has identical listing information. The official game announcement says some regions launch October 9. The listing confirms one-player play and TV, tabletop and handheld modes. Nintendo describes a puzzle adventure spanning four worlds, with characters who have distinct abilities and more than one thousand hand-crafted puzzles. The game is designed to let players explore at their own pace and return to challenges. Nintendo Canada listing; official game site.

Does Order of the Sinking Star run at 60 fps on Switch 2?

That is not confirmed by the official Switch 2 materials reviewed as of October 7, 2026. They do not state the console resolution, target or actual frame rate, performance in demanding sections, or whether the game offers graphics modes. No measured Switch 2 performance result is established in those materials, so there is no verified basis to promise 60 fps.

  • Money Never Sleeps – Sell relics, set your prices, and maximize profits.
  • Towards Prosperity – Invest in the village to unlock better gear and upgrades.
  • Build Your Business – Upgrade your shop and attract more customers.
  • The Endless Vault – Take on tougher trials for greater rewards.

Be careful not to transfer PC information to the console. A July 10, 2026 update described a beta branch of the PC demo: it reported faster frame-rate optimizations and said 60 fps was achieved on most Steam Deck levels. It also mentioned a “Very Performance” graphics setting, plus VSync, frame-rate-cap and antialiasing controls in that demo beta. Those details describe a PC demo build, not confirmed Switch 2 settings or performance. PC demo beta update.

The publisher later said the game was Steam Deck Verified and described optimized handheld UI and controls for that device. Steam Deck verification is not a Switch 2 benchmark. publisher announcement.

Can you change the controls?

The Nintendo listing does not specify the Switch 2 control layout, alternate schemes or in-game button remapping. It therefore does not establish whether you can customize controls within the game.

Nintendo does document system-level button mapping for Switch 2 controllers, including Joy-Con 2 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. This is a console setting, not a game-specific feature, and it does not guarantee that every interaction in Order of the Sinking Star can be made comfortable for every player. Does it have accessibility settings?

The reviewed official materials do not enumerate accessibility options in the Switch 2 version. In particular, they do not confirm game-specific text-size controls, color filters, subtitles, audio description, separate audio sliders or in-game remapping. Check the launch build’s settings rather than assuming these options are present.

Switch 2 has console-level features including system-screen text-to-speech, text-size choices, screen zoom, display-color options and button remapping. Nintendo’s guide does not say that text-to-speech reads this game’s text or that display adjustments address the game’s specific contrast or color-vision needs. The separate music, sound-effect and character-voice volume controls mentioned in the July update were reported for the PC demo beta, not confirmed as Switch 2 options. PC demo beta update.

Can you play it handheld?

Yes. Nintendo’s listing marks handheld mode as supported, alongside TV and tabletop modes. That confirms the play mode, but not the quality of the handheld interface or its legibility. The publisher’s statement about optimized handheld UI and controls applies to Steam Deck; it does not independently document the Switch 2 handheld experience. What to check in the game after launch

Because performance and game-specific options are not established in the pre-launch Switch 2 materials, verify them in the released version rather than relying on PC-demo or Steam Deck descriptions. Useful checks include:

  • Whether the game exposes a resolution, frame-rate or graphics-mode choice.
  • How smoothly it runs during more demanding puzzles and areas, not just the opening.
  • Whether controls can be remapped in-game and whether alternative schemes are available.
  • Whether text size, subtitles, color or contrast options, and separate audio controls appear in the game’s settings.
  • Whether text and interface elements are comfortable to read in handheld mode.
