They offer visual samples of those named settings, not a complete map. The official pages reviewed do not establish the map’s boundaries, area, distances between places or continuous routes.
What the official screenshots confirm about the GTA 6 map
Rockstar’s Trailer 2 announcement describes a story stretching across Leonida and invites players to explore Vice City and beyond. That makes Leonida the broader setting Rockstar names, with Vice City as one part of it—not a synonym for the entire world. See Rockstar’s Trailer 2 announcement.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI location page describes “the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond” and links to several destinations. It calls them “a few of the must-see destinations across the sunshine state.” These are Rockstar’s promotional descriptions, not a map key or a statement of each place’s size.

The official GTA VI media page groups screenshots under these location headings:

Rockstar’s page showed 99 screenshots when checked on October 7, 2026. That is a count of the promotional images then listed, not a count of map regions or a measurement of the game world; the page may change as Rockstar updates it.
What screenshots cannot tell you
A screenshot can show what Rockstar chose to depict in that frame. It cannot, on its own, establish how far apart two places are, whether they connect by a continuous road, how much land the game contains or how much of a structure players can enter. The official media and location pages reviewed do not provide an authoritative full map, boundary, area or scale.

For the same reason, fan-made map composites should not be presented as Rockstar’s official map. Promotional images are curated views, not a survey of every location or a map of the entire playable world.
How to compare official screenshots carefully
Start with Rockstar’s heading or caption. Keep the label, what is visible and what you infer separate: “Rockstar labels this group ‘Grassrivers’” is confirmed; “this frame shows water and low vegetation” describes the image; “the region is fully navigable by boat” is a gameplay claim that the still does not establish.

For useful comparisons between location groups, look at the same visual cues in each:
- Urban form: apparent building density, skyline and street layout in the frame.
- Waterfront and landscape: visible coast, waterways, open land or built-up shorelines.
- Vegetation and terrain: the plants, ground cover and landforms actually shown.
- Transport cues: visible roads, vehicles, boats or other transport—not assumptions about routes beyond the frame.
- Lighting and weather: the conditions captured in that particular image.
- Visible activity: people and activity present in the shot, without treating one promotional frame as proof of how often an event occurs in play.
These are ways to describe and compare images, not confirmations of gameplay systems. Use Rockstar’s captions and location labels alongside the images, and consult the official media page for its current collection and downloads.

As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar listed Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a November 19, 2026 release date. Rockstar’s store page also states that physical versions contain a download code in the box and no disc.
