Games press has compared its visual tone to Studio Ghibli and its delivery loop to Death Stranding—two separate comparisons, not official affiliations or confirmed creative influences.
What is Into the Wind?
Developed by Bloom & Gloom Games and published by Three Friends, Into the Wind is an open-world action-adventure and delivery game. Its story begins when the player takes over an uncle’s delivery business across the islands of Santa Rosa. The uncle has gone missing after reportedly entering a strange cloud, and meeting the islands’ residents through delivery work also draws the player into the search for him.
How does its delivery gameplay work?
Deliveries involve managing cargo as well as choosing where to go. GamesRadar reports that different cargo types affect driving and flying, and that heavy loads can make flight more difficult. Jobs may include unusual or hazardous freight, such as a live swordfish or a mine.
Some routes also bring pirate encounters into the equation. A player carrying a heavy load may choose a longer route to avoid danger; with less cargo, there may be more room to take on aerial combat. Successful work earns money and can lead to opportunities to find parts for Ermes, the motorcycle-plane, or for the player’s base.

Why are people comparing it to Death Stranding?
The comparison is about the delivery loop: carrying cargo, weighing its impact on a journey and planning a route around the job’s demands. PC Gamer likened the delivery portions to Death Stranding, while describing Into the Wind as appearing less simulation-heavy. That is a journalist’s comparison, not evidence of a shared creative team or a confirmed direct influence. The game also combines delivery work with exploration and aerial combat, so the comparison does not establish that the overall experience is the same.
What does the Studio Ghibli comparison mean?
GamesRadar uses “Ghibli-like” as an aesthetic and tonal shorthand, and invokes Kiki’s Delivery Service as an analogy. This describes how the game comes across in the report; it does not mean Studio Ghibli made, licensed, endorsed or officially inspired Into the Wind.

The available coverage outlines the premise and several gameplay systems but does not provide a hands-on assessment or a measured comparison with other games. It also does not establish how much of the final experience will focus on delivery, combat or exploration. For now, the clearest distinction is that the Ghibli comparison concerns atmosphere and look, while the Death Stranding comparison concerns cargo and delivery.
