Not through the regular free Battle Pass or Challenges. Blizzard says Mythic Prisms—the currency used to unlock Mythic skins—come from Premium Battle Pass progression or direct in-game purchase, and free Coins or Credits cannot be exchanged for Prisms. So unless Blizzard offers a specific promotion, earning a Mythic skin requires spending money or paid currency.
How Mythic Prism earnings work
Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ gives a direct answer: Mythic Prisms cannot be earned from the free Battle Pass or from Challenges. It identifies two ways to get Prisms: progress through the Premium Battle Pass or purchase them in-game.
The FAQ says completing a Premium Battle Pass can award 80 Mythic Prisms—enough, under the system it describes, to unlock and fully customize one Mythic skin. That route requires access to the paid pass and completing its progression; buying Prisms directly is the other documented option.
Why free Coins and Credits do not count
Overwatch Coins, Credits, and Mythic Prisms are separate currencies. Blizzard says Coins and Credits cannot be redeemed for Mythic Prisms, so collecting free Coins or Credits does not provide a documented way to unlock a Mythic skin.

Does waiting for an older Mythic make it free?
No. Blizzard has described older seasonal Mythic skins becoming available in the Mythic Shop after a delay. That can change which skin you can choose, but it does not supply the Prisms needed to claim it.
Nor is an old Unvaulted pass a workaround: Blizzard’s 2026 patch notes say Mythic skins and Mythic Prisms are among the rewards no longer obtainable in Unvaulted passes.

Can a promotion ever give away a Mythic skin?
A limited-time giveaway or event could be an exception, but the official sources cited here do not establish an active free Mythic promotion. Check the terms and dates in Blizzard’s announcement for any event you encounter; do not assume ordinary free Battle Pass tiers or Challenges award Mythic Prisms.
