What is confirmed about the new DMZ?
Call of Duty describes MW4 DMZ as an extraction mode set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone, combining Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, exploration, and player-driven encounters with progression between matches. You can deploy solo or with a squad, search for valuable loot, and face changing threats. The official overview says that pushing farther into danger can bring greater rewards, while each deployment carries risk. Call of Duty’s MW4 DMZ overview, published June 6, 2026, is the source for these announced features.
That is not enough information to treat older DMZ guides as current instructions. The original Warzone 2.0 DMZ had its own faction missions, contracts, gear rules, and extraction details. Those are historical mechanics, not confirmed features of MW4 DMZ. The new overview does not give a definitive contract list, access walkthrough, or exact extraction procedure.
What to do before your first deployment
- Go to the Forward Operating Base. The FOB is the command center for progression, gear preparation, and planning. Call of Duty’s Hajin Intel Guide describes it as an evolving hub with more than a dozen stations.
- Read DMZ Orders. These mission directives are the clearest official onboarding path: they are intended to introduce players to the story and guide them toward mastering the exclusion zone. As Call of Duty Staff puts it, “DMZ Orders are your guiding Mission Directives in DMZ.”
- Prepare your Operator and stored gear. Use the Operators station to check status and select an Operator ready to deploy. Use Stash/Loadout to manage stored weapons and gear. The intel guide advises offloading extracted items you will need on later deployments.
- Choose an activity and set a manageable objective. The overview names Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and self-directed exploration or player-driven encounters. Choose one clear goal rather than assuming a particular contract or task will be available.
- Keep extraction in mind. Loot and resources remain at risk until you successfully extract. Plan your run around getting out, not just collecting more.
Which activity should you choose?

The official description does not rank these choices by difficulty or publish their individual payouts. It does indicate a broader risk-reward trade-off: venturing farther into danger can offer greater rewards, but deployment itself puts your run at risk. For a first outing, DMZ Orders offer the clearest direction without requiring you to assume details that have not been announced.

How do contracts work in MW4 DMZ?
The announced MW4 overview does not confirm a contract system or provide contract categories, objectives, or rewards. Treat any guide listing specific contracts as a guide to the older Warzone 2.0 DMZ unless it explicitly identifies itself as an MW4 update and matches current official information.
In the 2022 Warzone 2.0 version, contracts were in-match activities for cash or other rewards; faction missions were selected before a match, and optional world activities offered other ways to spend a run. That distinction can help decode older guides, but it is not a reliable checklist for MW4. What is known about extraction?
Extraction is the point of a run: the new overview says valuable loot and resources remain exposed to risk during an operation, and you need a successful extraction to bring them out. However, the published MW4 overview does not specify extraction locations, how to call one in, how long it takes, or the precise penalties for failing to leave.
Do not use the old helicopter instructions as a substitute. In Warzone 2.0 DMZ, extraction used helicopters at marked locations, but MW4’s extraction procedure has not been detailed in the cited overview. Check the current in-game guidance and official MW4 instructions for the actual steps when you play.

What older DMZ guides can—and cannot—tell you
Warzone 2.0 DMZ is useful historical context if you encounter references to faction missions, contracts, backpacks, named factions, or final exfil. Those mechanics belonged to the older mode. The MW4 announcement does not establish that they return, so avoid planning a new-mode run around them until current official instructions confirm it.
