Which SanDisk 2TB SSD is in the deal?
The offer is for the SanDisk Optimus GX 7100M 2TB, model SDSP71200TAT. It is an M.2 2230-S3-M drive with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and NVMe 2.0 support. Check the model number carefully: a separate SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 8100 2TB listing cited by Technobezz is a PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280 SSD, not this compact 7100M. Is the 7100M compatible with Steam Deck?
SanDisk positions the 7100M as an upgrade for compatible Steam Deck devices, and its product page identifies the 2TB model as an M.2 2230 drive. That supports its intended use as an internal upgrade; it is not evidence of a tested installation or measured game-loading improvement. What should you check before buying?
- Verify the exact drive: look for Optimus GX 7100M and model SDSP71200TAT, rather than relying on a listing that says only “SanDisk 2TB SSD.”
- Confirm the live deal: the $379.99 figure was reported for Prime members during October 6–7, 2026. It is not a guaranteed current price; confirm the retailer’s live listing, stock, eligibility and checkout price. PC Guide deal report
- Check your device and installation requirements: SanDisk says the drive is for compatible Steam Deck devices. Confirm compatibility for your model and be prepared to follow the device maker’s instructions for opening and replacing internal storage.
- Weigh the warranty and ratings: the published endurance and warranty figures are manufacturer specifications; warranty terms apply as limited-warranty conditions, not as a guarantee of a particular lifespan or performance in every setup.
Would a microSD card be a simpler storage option?
Valve says every Steam Deck model supports microSD expansion. Its official page lists 256GB LCD, 512GB OLED and 1TB OLED configurations, so the available built-in capacity varies by model.
