Compare your PC’s CPU, graphics card, RAM, DirectX support and available storage with EA’s minimum and recommended requirements. Then check the game’s Performance Display during a match: EA’s recommended tier targets smooth 60 FPS, but the counter—not the requirements table—shows how your system is performing in practice.
What Apex Legends requires on PC
EA lists separate minimum and recommended specifications. Meeting the minimum is a compatibility baseline, not a promise of smooth play. EA describes the recommended tier as intended for smooth 60 FPS gameplay. Its official PC requirements page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists these specifications:
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 | 64-bit Windows 10 |
| CPU | Intel Core i3-6300 3.8 GHz / AMD FX-4350 4.2 GHz quad-core | Intel i5-3570K or equivalent |
| RAM | 6 GB | 8 GB |
| Graphics card | NVIDIA GTX 950 / AMD Radeon HD 7790 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 |
| GPU memory and DirectX | 2 GB GPU RAM; DirectX 12, feature level 12_0 required | EA lists 8 GB GPU RAM; DirectX 12 support is specified |
| Free disk space | 75 GB | 75 GB |

How to compare your PC with the requirements
- Find your PC’s specifications. In Windows, check the system information and display settings available on your computer for the installed processor, RAM and graphics card. Check the drive where you plan to install the game for available space.
- Compare each part separately. Look at the exact CPU and GPU model, not just the brand. Check both RAM and free disk space against EA’s minimum and recommended columns.
- Check DirectX capability. For the minimum GPU tier, EA specifies DirectX 12 feature level 12_0. Confirm the graphics card supports it rather than assuming that a DirectX version alone establishes the required feature level.
- Choose your target. Use the minimum column as a baseline and the recommended column as EA’s smooth-60-FPS reference. A PC that falls short on one component may still launch the game, but this comparison does not establish what frame rate it will achieve.
EA’s requirements page does not provide a Windows walkthrough for locating every specification, so the exact labels and paths can vary by PC.

Measure FPS in an actual match
A specifications comparison cannot tell you exactly how many frames per second your particular PC will deliver. Turn on the built-in counter and observe it during gameplay instead:
- Open Settings in Apex Legends.
- Go to Gameplay and switch Performance Display on.
- Play a match and read the FPS and ping shown at the top-right of the screen.
EA documents this counter in its guide to displaying an FPS counter in EA games on PC. Judge the result over ordinary play rather than treating a brief reading as a guaranteed sustained frame rate. EA’s FPS guidance also describes a Steam in-game FPS counter option: EA’s PC game performance guide.
What “smooth” means—and what FPS does not tell you
EA’s recommended specifications target smooth 60 FPS, and EA says many players aim for around 60 FPS. Treat that as a reference, not a guarantee: actual output varies with hardware and monitor support. Your in-game reading is the practical check for your own setup.

- NVIDIA Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors: The all-new Ampere SM brings 2X the FP32 throughput and improved power efficiency.
- 2nd Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray-tracing performance.
- 3rd Generation Tensor Cores: Get up to 2X the throughput with structural sparsity and advanced AI algorithms such as DLSS. These cores deliver a massive boost in game performance and all-new AI capabilities.
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
- OC Mode : 1500 MHz (Boost Clock)/Default Mode : 1470 MHz (Boost Clock)
The Performance Display shows both FPS and ping, but they describe different things. FPS concerns how many frames the PC renders and is relevant to visual smoothness; ping is network information. A high ping reading alone is not evidence that the graphics card is too weak.
What to do if your FPS is unsatisfactory
Lower graphics settings and check the result
EA recommends using the lowest graphics settings possible to maximize FPS. You can also lower a few options at a time, then play and watch whether the counter changes. EA does not specify a guaranteed improvement for any particular PC or setting. See EA’s Apex Legends PC settings guidance.
Check before changing the FPS cap
EA’s FPS guide warns that changing the FPS cap can cause performance issues and recommends checking your PC specifications before changing it. Avoid assuming a cap adjustment will improve performance.

Identify the shortfall before considering an upgrade
If settings changes do not meet your target, identify whether the mismatch is the CPU, GPU, memory or available storage. The requirements establish which components to compare, but do not identify a current replacement card or PC to buy. EA’s listed GPU models are requirement examples, not present-day purchase advice.
Keep the requirements current
Game requirements and performance can change with updates, and EA’s requirements page does not show a distinct publication or revision date. Check the official Apex Legends PC requirements when you make the comparison.
