Which Xbox gives Halo Infinite the best performance?
Choose Xbox Series X for the strongest supported resolution and frame-rate options. Microsoft says Halo Infinite can reach up to 120 FPS and 4K on Series X in supported maps and modes, with a compatible TV or monitor. Series X is capable of native 4K, according to Microsoft’s Series X specifications. The display matters: to benefit from the game’s stated 4K or high-frame-rate options, you need a compatible screen.
Can you play Halo Infinite on Xbox Series S?
Yes. Halo Infinite is available on both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and is optimized for Series X|S. Series S is designed for 1440p gaming and can upscale to 4K, according to Microsoft. Upscaling is not the same as native 4K capability.

Series S is a good fit if your library is digital, you do not need a disc drive, and a 1440p target suits your setup. It does not offer the same stated 4K and up-to-120-FPS Halo capabilities as Series X.
Which console should you choose for your Halo library?

Microsoft’s current Series X lineup includes disc-drive and all-digital configurations. If you own Halo or other Xbox games on disc, choose a drive-equipped model rather than relying on the Series X name alone. Series S has no disc drive; Microsoft confirms it is for digital games only in its backward compatibility FAQ.

What about older Halo games?
Do not assume every older Halo release works on every Series console. Xbox backward compatibility includes select Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games, and Microsoft says availability and features vary by game. Some titles may require a download. Check the specific game before buying a console or disc, especially if you are choosing Series S and own physical copies.
Do you need Game Pass for Halo Infinite multiplayer?
Halo Infinite multiplayer is free-to-play, but Microsoft’s listing says online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription, sold separately. That requirement applies to console multiplayer; it does not mean the multiplayer game itself has a purchase price. Check the listing for current subscription terms in your region.

Which Xbox should you buy for Halo?
For the best supported Halo Infinite experience and the flexibility to choose a disc-drive configuration, get Xbox Series X. Choose Series S if you are committed to digital games, do not need physical discs, and are content with its 1440p design. For older Halo games, verify compatibility title by title before purchasing.
