The next announced Halo game is Halo: Campaign Evolved, a planned 2026 remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign—not a sequel to Halo Infinite. Halo Studios has said it is developing multiple Halo projects, but the official announcements reviewed do not name a separate mainline follow-up to Infinite or give one a release date.
What is the next Halo game?
The next named release in the official announcements is Halo: Campaign Evolved. Xbox announced it on October 24, 2025, as a complete remake of the campaign from Halo: Combat Evolved, planned for 2026. The announcement describes updated visuals, animations, music, and voice lines, plus three new prequel missions. Xbox has not announced a specific release day in the cited material, so “planned for 2026” should not be read as a confirmed launch date or evidence that the game has shipped. What platforms and modes are announced?
Xbox lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. It also says the game will support two-player local split-screen on console and online co-op for up to four players across Xbox, PC, and PS5. These are announced features, not independent performance or player-count tests. Check regional storefronts for local availability and edition details.
Is Campaign Evolved the Halo Infinite sequel or Halo 7?
No. Campaign Evolved remakes the original game’s campaign and adds prequel missions; it is not presented as the next chapter after Infinite. Xbox describes it as a remake, and the announcements do not assign it a sequel number. Calling it “Halo 7” or a direct Infinite sequel would go beyond what has been confirmed.

In October 2024, Halo Studios said it was working on multiple projects. Its announcement did not identify those projects by name. The later announcement of Campaign Evolved confirms one project, but the official material reviewed still does not establish a separate Infinite sequel’s title, story, gameplay, or release date. That is a limit of what has been publicly confirmed in these announcements, not proof that no other project exists. Halo Studios’ 2024 announcement

Is Halo Infinite still getting updates?
Halo Waypoint’s Operation: Infinite Update Preview says Operation: Infinite may be the last major update currently planned. The same post says daily and weekly challenges, ranked seasons, and community events will continue “throughout next year and beyond,” and that Halo Studios is shifting focus to projects in development, including Campaign Evolved. Because this is a dated operational plan and service details can change, consult the current Halo Infinite news index for later announcements rather than treating the post as a guarantee of a particular event or update schedule.

Why Halo Studios changed its approach
On October 6, 2024, 343 Industries announced that it was becoming Halo Studios and that future Halo projects were being developed with Unreal Engine 5. The studio said it was working on multiple projects, but did not name them in that announcement. Its statement on the change also explained Project Foundry: a research and training effort to explore what building Halo in Unreal requires. Halo Studios explicitly said Foundry was neither a game nor a tech demo, so it should not be mistaken for an upcoming release.
At the time, Xbox Wire also reported that the team was not discussing exactly what its new games were and that a new Halo game was not imminent. That was a statement made in 2024, not a current forecast; the later Campaign Evolved announcement is the named game that followed. Xbox Wire’s 2024 interview
