How to Test and Share an AI-Generated Browser Game Across Devices

Publish the game, test its live page on the devices and browsers you intend to support, then share the direct playable URL.

To test and share an AI-generated browser game, publish a browser-playable build, open its live URL on the desktop and mobile browsers you intend to support, and try the game’s actual controls. Then send players the direct URL to the playable page—not just a source-code repository.

1. Make sure the build can run in a browser

The published entry point needs to load as a web page. For an itch.io HTML5 project, the platform’s documentation says its app context looks for an index.html or other top-level HTML file. Packaging differs between engines, so check the instructions for your particular export rather than assuming every build has the same structure. See itch.io’s HTML5 game documentation.

2. Publish a playable page

A static host or a browser-game publishing platform can give players a URL they can open in a browser. MDN names GitHub Pages as one possible host; itch.io documents uploading HTML5 games for browser play.

Route What it can do What to check before choosing
Static web hosting, such as GitHub Pages Host game files at a URL players can open. MDN’s game publishing guide gives GitHub Pages as an example. Confirm that the host suits your build format and deployment workflow. Check current custom-URL options, limits, and terms directly with the host.
Browser-game platform, such as itch.io Upload an HTML5 game for browser play. itch.io’s documentation explains its web-game setup. Check how the game is presented and launched, whether your build is compatible, and the platform’s current account and publishing terms.

These are examples, not a current comparison of price, file limits, or service terms. Choose based on your build and how you want players to reach it.

XBOX Wireless Gaming Controller | Carbon Black
  • MODERNIZED DESIGN — Experience the modernized design of the XBOX Wireless Controller with sculpted surfaces and updated geometry that enhances comfort and control during long gaming sessions.
  • PRECISION PERFORMANCE — Stay on target with a hybrid D-pad and textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case for improved accuracy and handling.
  • SHARE BUTTON: Seamlessly capture and share content such as screenshots, recordings, and more with the new Share button.
  • VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
  • BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.

3. Test the deployed URL on desktop

Test the actual published page, not only a local preview. MDN describes a desktop-first workflow followed by mobile debugging as a practical approach, not a guarantee that the game will work everywhere.

  • Confirm the page and initial game screen load.
  • Try the main input and any menus or prompts.
  • Check that restarting or exiting works as intended.
  • If the game has audio or fullscreen controls, try them.

4. Test the same URL on a phone or tablet

When possible, open the live URL on a real mobile device. Browser-based games can target many devices, but using web technology does not establish that a particular game works correctly on every screen or browser.

8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller for Windows PC and Android, with 1000 Hz Polling Rate, Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers, and Remappable L4/R4 Bumpers (Green)
  • Compatible with Windows and Android.
  • 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
  • Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
  • Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
  • Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
  • Check that the game fits the screen and important controls remain visible.
  • Try every touch control; don’t assume desktop inputs translate well.
  • Check whether the intended orientation and fullscreen behavior are usable.
  • Look for interactions that rely on hovering or keyboard input, which may not suit a touchscreen.

If you expect a broad audience, try another browser or device too. Describe only the combinations you actually checked—for example, “tested in desktop Chrome and mobile Safari on [device].” Don’t imply wider compatibility based on a single successful run.

5. Share the playable URL

Send the URL of the published game page so recipients can open and play it. A link to the source repository is not a substitute unless you expect them to build the project themselves.

Logitech G F310 Wired Gamepad Controller Console - Blue/Black
  • With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
  • Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
  • A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
  • The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
  • The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.

If you add an in-game Share button, the Web Share API can pass a link to a share target selected by the user in supporting browsers. MDN classifies the API as having limited availability and says it requires a secure context. Keep the game URL visible and offer a copy-link fallback so players can still share it when the API is unavailable. See MDN’s Navigator.share documentation.

6. Set the itch.io mobile label only after testing

On itch.io, select “Mobile Friendly” only if you have checked the game in a mobile browser. According to itch.io’s HTML5 documentation, mobile visitors get a click-to-launch fullscreen experience, and itch.io shows a warning when a game has not been marked mobile friendly. The label should reflect a real check, not an assumption about the build.
