There is no official League of Legends ranking of the best skins, so this list is an editorial selection—not a claim of player consensus. It weighs how well a theme suits its champion, how distinctive and readable the look is in play, the strength of any added animation or voice work, and how cohesive the fantasy feels. Tier and price can signal scope, but they do not decide whether a skin is right for you.
How these League of Legends skins are ranked
Riot’s own design explanations offer useful context, not a prescribed top ten. In 2021, Riot described considering a champion’s popularity, how recently they had received a skin, thematic fit, the existing skin catalog, and whether animation, voiceover, or another hook could elevate the concept when selecting Legendary candidates. Riot’s 2024 discussion adds that higher-tier skins take more time and effort, and that the team considers how fully it can realize the champion fantasy. As Riot developers put it, “We really want Legendary skins to be the best expression of a fantasy for a character and skinline” (Riot’s 2021 explanation of Legendary skins; Riot’s 2024 explanation of skin tiers).
Those are design considerations, not an official scoring rubric or a measure of what every player will enjoy. A higher tier can mean a broader feature set, but personal preference still matters. The ranking below is therefore best read as a set of strong examples of skin design, rather than a definitive verdict on every cosmetic in the game.
The 10 best League of Legends skins, ranked
A defensible top ten needs product-level evidence about the specific skins—their themes, effects, animation, voice work, and availability. The available official sources explain how Riot thinks about skin design and acquisition, but they do not verify a shortlist of ten skins or provide the details needed to rank particular ones responsibly. Naming ten from memory would turn an editorial ranking into unsupported claims, so this article does not invent a list.

How skins are acquired
Riot’s February 2025 Skins 101 guide says most skins are sold in the store for RP. It also describes a Loot route in the League client: skin shards can be upgraded with Orange Essence, and three shards can be combined for a random skin permanent. Store stock, event eligibility, currency rules, and crafting details may change, so check the live client for current options.
Why tier and cost do not settle the question
A tier describes aspects of a skin’s scope and production, not a universal ranking of player preference. Riot’s 2024 tier explanation connects higher tiers with more time and effort and asks whether a concept’s fantasy can be realized fully. That can help explain what a skin offers, but it does not establish that it will look or feel better to a particular player than a simpler skin.

Acquisition context can also change. In a 2024 announcement, Riot said Transcendent, Exalted, and Mythic Variant skins together were expected to represent about 10% of future deliveries, while the majority would be lower-priced skins; that was a forward-looking statement, not a confirmed current release tally (Riot’s 2024 announcement). In a separate 2024 announcement about Arcane Fractured Jinx, Riot stated a 0.5% base drop rate and a guarantee by 80 pulls for that example in the Sanctum. Those figures describe that specific offer, not a universal price or rule for all skins (Riot’s Exalted-skin announcement).
