Clawline (Harpoon) is bound at a Weaver Burial Spire in the Cauldron, in the Underworks. Reach the Cauldron’s central room, cross the lava course to the burial spire, and interact with the shrine to bind the skill. You can approach through Whiteward or take a lift that becomes available after defeating Trobbio.
Where to Find Clawline
Clawline is in a Weaver Burial Spire in the Cauldron, an area of the Underworks. The Hollow Knight Wiki documents a side passage from Whiteward and a lift that unlocks after defeating Trobbio as ways to reach the area. The White Key requirement applies to the Whiteward approach described by PCGamesN; it is not established as a universal prerequisite.
Choose a Route to the Cauldron

Whiteward Route: Step by Step
- Enter the Underworks from Whiteward and rest at the bench.
- Turn on the fan wheel and ride the updraft.
- Descend through the molten-rock platforms toward the lower-right exit.
- Cross the lava passage, climb the shaft, and open the lever door.
- Continue to the skill shrine in the Cauldron and interact with it to bind Clawline.
PCGamesN warns that hot platforms can burn you if you linger and that some enemies carry explosive rocks. After binding Clawline, use it to reach the northeast exit, which leads back toward the bench near the Twelfth Architect.
What Clawline Does
The in-game description, as transcribed by the Hollow Knight Wiki, reads: “Fling the needle as a harpoon and launch forcefully towards it. Silk will be expended. Strike enemies to replenish Silk.” Clawline launches horizontally; Hornet is pulled toward the point where the needle stops. Using it costs one strand of Silk, which is returned when the move strikes an enemy.

Do I need the White Key to get Clawline?
The White Key is needed for the Whiteward approach described by PCGamesN. The Hollow Knight Wiki also documents a lift route unlocked after defeating Trobbio, so the White Key is not confirmed as a requirement for every route.
