Public evidence documents four celebrities with a connection to World of Warcraft, but it does not establish that ten celebrities currently play. The examples below are supported by first-person comments, Blizzard’s own statement, or attributed reporting—and each is dated so past play is not mistaken for a current habit.
Which celebrities have a documented connection to World of Warcraft?
These examples differ in what the evidence proves. Mila Kunis spoke about belonging to the WoW community; Felicia Day described playing; Blizzard’s Ion Hazzikostas confirmed Robin Williams was an avid player; and a 2016 headline reported an anecdote about Henry Cavill playing. None of these sources establishes that the living celebrities still play today.
| Celebrity | What the source establishes | Evidence and date |
|---|---|---|
| Mila Kunis | A WoW community connection, not current play | Blizzard quoted her in a July 25, 2023 charity-pet announcement describing WoW as “the first gaming community I was ever a part of.” Blizzard announcement |
| Felicia Day | First-person past play | In a 2009 BlizzCon interview, she said, “I played the Worgen!” BlizzCon interview |
| Robin Williams | Historical play confirmed by a named Blizzard developer | In a 2014 Associated Press report republished by CBS News, Blizzard lead game designer Ion Hazzikostas said, “We knew he was an avid ‘WoW’ player, which was awesome.” CBS News / Associated Press report |
| Henry Cavill | A reported past-play anecdote | Game Informer’s 2016 headline reported that Cavill missed a Superman-related call while playing WoW. The source supports only that headline-level claim here, not additional details or current play. Game Informer report |
What does “plays WoW” mean in these reports?
Direct statements and official comments
Day’s first-person remark is direct evidence that she played at the time of the 2009 interview. Kunis’s comment, published by Blizzard in 2023, establishes a community connection but does not say whether she played then or plays now. Hazzikostas’s statement is a named Blizzard developer’s confirmation of Williams’s historical enthusiasm.
Anecdotes are not proof of a current routine
The Cavill item is a dated report about a past incident, and the accessible headline gives no basis for expanding it into a broader account. More generally, a past interview or anecdote cannot establish that someone remains an active player.

Why isn’t this a verified list of ten current celebrity players?
The available attributed sources substantiate four examples, not ten—and they do not verify current play by the living figures named here. Additional names may circulate in forum lists, but an unattributed claim is not enough to present someone as a confirmed player. That distinction matters: “has played,” “has a WoW community connection,” and “currently plays” are different claims.

The Associated Press estimated that about 6.8 million people played WoW online in 2014. That is a historical estimate reported at the time, not a current player count. Associated Press report republished by CBS News
