Light of Foliar Incision is his signature and leading premium recommendation, while Primordial Jade Cutter is a strong alternative that can compare favorably when you are hitting multiple enemies. The best choice for your account depends on what you own, what you can obtain, and the fight—not on a universal damage ranking.
Alhaitham is a five-star Dendro sword user, so the options below are swords rather than a mix of weapon types. The available guides recommend several weapons, but they do not establish a controlled, apples-to-apples damage ranking across ten choices with teams, artifacts, refinements, and target counts held constant. Treat the list as a practical shortlist: first consider a sword you already own, then weigh whether pursuing a new one is worth it for your wider roster.
How to choose a weapon for Alhaitham
- Start with availability. Iron Sting is forgeable, while Toukabou Shigure was a past event reward and is not an option for players who missed it.
- Account for the fight. A weapon comparison can change between one enemy and several; the signature weapon’s effect has a reported damage-instance limit.
- Consider opportunity cost. A signature weapon may be a strong upgrade, but that does not make it the best use of pulls if you already have a good sword or would benefit more from investing elsewhere.
- Read rankings as recommendations, not guarantees. The cited guides make different assumptions, including a single-target assumption for one event weapon.
10 weapons to consider
1. Light of Foliar Incision — signature premium choice
Light of Foliar Incision is Alhaitham’s signature weapon and is described by Icy Veins as his best-in-slot option. Its effect can expire after 28 damage instances, however, which matters when comparing it in multi-target situations. It is a leading recommendation, not an automatic reason to spend pulls: GameWith says there is little reason to pursue it if you already own Primordial Jade Cutter, and notes that other generalist swords may be worthwhile depending on your roster. Icy Veins GameWith
2. Primordial Jade Cutter — strong premium alternative
Primordial Jade Cutter is a strong alternative to the signature weapon. Icy Veins notes that it can be better in multi-target situations, so its value depends in part on what you are fighting. If it is already in your inventory, compare its practical performance before deciding to pursue Light of Foliar Incision; the cited guides do not support a universal damage percentage or ranking that applies to every build. 3. Iron Sting — best practical F2P starting option
Iron Sting is the clearest accessible recommendation for a player without a premium sword. GameWith describes it as the easiest and best free-to-play option and identifies it as forgeable. That makes it a straightforward choice for an account that wants a craftable weapon rather than a limited banner investment. This is a practical guide recommendation, not proof that Iron Sting produces the highest damage in every team or encounter. GameWith
4. Toukabou Shigure — event weapon for existing owners
Toukabou Shigure is worth considering if you already have it, but it is not a generally available option for a new player: GameWith says it came from a past event and is no longer obtainable by players who did not complete that event. The Helper Team’s comparison assumes single-target combat for this weapon and says it falls behind Iron Sting in area-of-effect situations. That makes it a conditional owned-account option, not a dependable F2P acquisition recommendation. GameWith Genshin Impact Helper Team
5. Mistsplitter Reforged — generalist premium sword
GameWith names Mistsplitter Reforged among the other swords players may consider, and GenshinGuide includes it among alternative recommendations. The sources cited here do not provide a controlled comparison that establishes its exact position against the four options above for every Alhaitham build. If you own it, treat it as an account-specific candidate rather than assuming a new pull is required. GameWith GenshinGuide

6. Haran Geppaku Futsu — owned-account alternative
Haran Geppaku Futsu is another generalist sword GameWith mentions as a possible option. The evidence available for this guide does not establish its exact damage order relative to Alhaitham’s signature or craftable choices, so its strongest practical case is that you can evaluate a sword already on your account rather than pursue a weapon solely to fill this slot. GenshinGuide lists Uraku Misugiri among Alhaitham’s possible alternatives. That makes it a sword to consider if you already own it, but the cited material does not establish a reliable universal ranking or controlled damage comparison against the main recommendations. Use it as part of an account-specific decision, not as a guaranteed upgrade target. GenshinGuide

8. Freedom-Sworn — roster-dependent alternative
Freedom-Sworn also appears in GenshinGuide’s list of alternatives. The sources do not provide enough comparable detail to claim it is always better or worse than Iron Sting, Toukabou Shigure, or other premium swords for Alhaitham. Consider it when it is already available on your account and assess it against your team and the encounter you intend to play. GenshinGuide
9–10. Other generalist swords — only rank them after checking your account
GameWith refers to other generalist swords as potential options, but the sources cited here do not identify two more weapons with enough comparable evidence to support precise entries in a ten-place damage ranking. Rather than inventing a pair or implying a tested order, use this final slot in the shortlist as a reminder to check the swords you already own against current build guidance. GenshinGuide cautions that rankings are signals rather than absolutes. GameWith GenshinGuide

Is Iron Sting good for Alhaitham?
Yes. It is the strongest practical starting recommendation here for a player seeking an accessible, craftable F2P weapon and lacking a suitable premium sword. Its recommendation is about accessibility and usefulness, not a universal claim that it outdamages every alternative. If you already own a strong premium sword, compare that option before committing resources to a new weapon.
Should you pull Light of Foliar Incision if you own Jade Cutter?
Not automatically. Light of Foliar Incision is the signature recommendation, but GameWith says there is little reason to pursue it if you already have Primordial Jade Cutter; Icy Veins also notes a possible Jade Cutter advantage against multiple targets. The decision is therefore about account value: weigh a new weapon against the swords you already have and other priorities for your roster, rather than treating signature status as a requirement.
Why target count matters
Single-target rankings do not necessarily transfer to area-of-effect fights. Icy Veins reports that Light of Foliar Incision’s effect can end after 28 damage instances and notes Jade Cutter can be better in multi-target situations. Separately, the Helper Team’s ranking for Toukabou Shigure assumes single-target combat and says it falls behind Iron Sting in AoE. Because these comparisons use different conditions, they should not be blended into one precise, all-purpose order. Icy Veins Genshin Impact Helper Team
Quick Recap
Quick decision guide
- No premium sword and want an obtainable F2P option: start with Iron Sting.
- Already own Light of Foliar Incision: it is the leading signature recommendation.
- Already own Primordial Jade Cutter: it is a strong alternative, with a cited possible advantage in multi-target encounters.
- Own Toukabou Shigure: consider it for single-target play, but not as a new acquisition target if you missed its event.
- Own another named premium sword: treat it as a candidate, since the available sources do not establish a controlled ten-weapon damage order.
