For a practical list of the easiest Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree bosses, start with Curseblade Labirith, Jori, Elder Inquisitor, and Golden Hippopotamus. This ranking includes both major fights and optional boss-bar encounters; difficulty is subjective, not a measured or universal scale. Your character level, Scadutree Blessings, build, summons, and consumables can change how any fight feels.
How this ranking defines “easiest”
The Realm of Shadow does not force every player through bosses in one fixed sequence. Exploration changes when and where you meet some opponents, so encounter order is not a reliable difficulty ranking. This list combines major fights with optional encounters that have boss health bars, rather than limiting itself to story bosses and one-time side-quest fights.
There is no objective ranking supported by a shared test or representative player data. The numbers below are PowerPyx guide-author ratings from 2024 where available, not standardized measurements; the remaining placements reflect reported patterns and openings, not a universal result. Player accounts also differ substantially, and a discussion on r/Eldenring is anecdotal rather than representative evidence.
Scadutree Blessings reduce damage received in the Realm of Shadow, and PowerPyx recommends collecting them along with Revered Spirit Ash Blessings. If a fight feels disproportionately punishing, exploring for upgrades may help more than treating the list as a fixed progression. Summons, equipment, and consumables also affect the experience.

The 10 easiest boss-bar encounters
1. Curseblade Labirith
PowerPyx rates Curseblade Labirith 1/10, the lowest rating among the named encounters in its guide. That rating is the guide author’s judgment, not a guarantee: Labirith’s quick attacks can still punish a player who loses track of the enemy or attacks without an opening. It is a strong candidate for easiest if you can read the attack rhythm and avoid rushing your counterattacks.
2. Jori, Elder Inquisitor
PowerPyx rates Jori 2/10. The fight is a defensible early pick for a lower-difficulty encounter, though its supporting enemies can make the arena feel busier than a straight duel. Control the extra pressure and use the openings rather than chasing Jori recklessly.
3. Jagged Peak Drake encounters
PowerPyx rates the repeated Jagged Peak Drake fights 2/10. These are overworld dragon encounters rather than one unique, one-time story fight, so this entry groups the repeated encounters instead of pretending they are separate kinds of boss. Their placement can depend on exploration, and the open arena gives you room to reposition when the dragon’s attacks make close combat risky.
4. Golden Hippopotamus
PowerPyx rates Golden Hippopotamus 2.5/10. Twinfinite also describes it as one of the easier fights within its narrower selection of full story and one-time side-quest bosses: its patterns are relatively straightforward, and lengthy attack animations leave opportunities to punish it. Its size and aggressive movement can still make mistakes costly, but its tells give attentive players a workable rhythm.

5. Elder Inquisitor, Curseblade, and other smaller optional encounters
Optional boss-bar encounters broaden the pool considerably compared with lists limited to major story fights. PowerPyx’s low ratings for Labirith and Jori illustrate why an “easiest” list can look different depending on whether it counts these fights. Twinfinite deliberately limits its scope and does not treat every smaller or reskinned encounter as a separate entry. This ranking includes optional encounters, but does not invent a precise cross-guide score for every one.
6. Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame
PowerPyx rates Midra 5/10, making this a lower-middle candidate rather than a consensus easy boss. The rating is useful as a relative marker within that guide, but it should not be read as proof that Midra is easy for every build. The fight’s pace and pressure can feel very different depending on how well you manage its attacks and your own openings.
7. Blackgaol Knight
PowerPyx also rates Blackgaol Knight 5/10. That places it in the same middle range as Midra in the guide, not among its very lowest-rated encounters. It is a useful example of why “easiest” is relative: an opponent with a readable moveset can still be demanding if your approach leaves little margin for error.
8–10. Other encounters depend heavily on your route and build
Once the clearest low-rated candidates are accounted for, the sources do not establish a reliable order for three more universally easy bosses. PowerPyx’s guide is arranged by area and offers its own ratings and tactics, while Twinfinite’s ranking covers a narrower set of major and side-quest fights. Rather than assign unsupported ratings or imply a shared consensus, treat the remaining fights you encounter as route- and build-dependent. Use the same practical test: how readable are the attacks, how long are the punish windows, and can you manage arena pressure and phase changes with your current setup?

Why two players can rank the same boss differently
- Scadutree Blessings and survivability: blessing progression reduces incoming damage in the Realm of Shadow, changing how many mistakes a player can survive.
- Build and damage type: weapon reach, attack speed, damage weaknesses, and defensive options can make a moveset easier or harder to handle.
- Summons and consumables: these can change enemy attention and the length or safety of attack windows.
- Encounter scope: a list of full story bosses answers a different question from a list that includes dungeon and overworld mini-bosses.
- Personal execution: a readable attack pattern may suit one player and frustrate another; published ratings and forum posts do not amount to win rates or average attempts.
How to use the list when a fight is giving you trouble
- Check your Realm of Shadow progression. Explore for Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ash Blessings; PowerPyx recommends these upgrades for the DLC.
- Identify the specific obstacle. Note whether you are struggling with attack readability, short punish windows, mobility, arena pressure, damage, or a phase change.
- Change one part of your approach. Try a different weapon pace or defensive option, use a summon or consumable if you want, or spend more time learning the attack sequence before committing to punish windows.
- Reassess rather than follow a fixed order. If a fight remains a poor match for your current setup, explore elsewhere and return later; the DLC’s encounter order can vary.
Does the DLC require the base game?
Yes. The expansion requires Elden Ring. The official Xbox storefront describes the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition as including the base game and expansion and warns against duplicate purchases. Check your platform and existing ownership before buying an edition; storefront contents and availability can vary.
