Progress in Solo Leveling: ARISE depends on more than winning fights: Gate keys, story-gated gear slots, Artifact and Core upgrades, crafting, and the current dungeon rotation all shape how efficiently you build your account. This guide explains what each system does, when it opens, and where manual play or material choices matter.
1. Use Gate keys for recurring growth materials
Gates are a repeatable source of materials used to strengthen your account. Netmarble’s Gate guide says the activity unlocks after clearing Normal Story Chapter 2. Before entering, review the boss level, total power, basic rewards, and selectable rewards shown in the Gate details.
Keys are deducted when you clear a dungeon, and free keys replenish daily up to a limit. Choose a Gate based on the rewards you need and whether its listed power and difficulty suit your team; there is no single reward choice that is best for every account.
Gate missions and sweep credit
Gate missions reset daily. The guide cautions that unclaimed rewards from earlier mission tiers can be difficult to obtain after reward information resets, so collect rewards as you complete tiers rather than leaving them unclaimed.

Sweeping unlocks after Normal Chapter 3 and skips the stage’s combat. It is convenient for clearing eligible Gates, but it affects Special Commission credit: a sweep counts only the Final Boss, while manually defeating the bosses counts both intermediate and final bosses. If you need the additional kill credit, play the stage instead of sweeping.
2. Story progress opens Artifact gear slots
Artifacts affect both Sung Jinwoo and Hunters, and matching pieces grant additional set effects. The system opens after Chapter 5, Episode 1, “The Hidden Quest.” Slots arrive gradually as you advance the story, so a complete gear plan may need to wait for later chapters.

3. Artifact upgrades mix guaranteed milestones with randomness
Enhancement is incremental. According to the official guide, a failed enhancement attempt raises the bonus rate by 1%. Successful enhancement tiers 5, 10, 15, and 20 add a supporting stat; at other successful steps, an existing supporting stat can increase at random. This means the exact supporting-stat outcome is not fully under your control.

Artifact enchantment lets you choose which substat to improve, but the size of the improvement is random. If the new result is lower than the existing value, it does not replace the higher one.
Reforging preserves key investment
Reforging can increase stats on qualifying Artifacts while preserving their enhancement tier, enchantment stats, and effect type. The guide says an eligible Artifact can be reforged once. Check eligibility and the resulting stat changes in the client before spending the required materials.

4. Cores have two random stats and one unique stat
Cores can be equipped by both Sung Jinwoo and Hunters. Each Core has two random stats determined according to set probabilities, plus a separate unique stat. Cores unlock after clearing Story Chapter 10 on Hard, as described in Netmarble’s Core guide.
Leveling improves the two random stats; it does not affect the unique passive. That distinction matters when deciding whether a Core’s level-up investment supports the stats you want, since its unique effect will not grow with its level.

Once a Core reaches maximum level, you can spend materials and currency to enhance it. Each enhancement attempt randomly selects one of its two stats to improve, so you cannot choose which stat receives that attempt’s increase. After both maximum level and maximum stat enhancement are reached, limit breaking can raise the Core’s maximum level and stats.

5. Crafting unlocks early, but has limits
The Craft menu unlocks when Sung Jinwoo reaches level 7. Crafting cannot fail, but it consumes the listed materials and Gold. Not every item is craftable: Netmarble’s Craft guide notes that some Hunter weapons and items cannot be made this way.
Artifact crafting can provide some stat selection
Artifact crafting has a separate story requirement: clear Hidden Chapter 1, Episode 8, “Unknown Power,” on Normal. For Artifacts above a certain level, additional materials can let you choose a main stat and up to two substats. The cost depends on the stats selected, so inspect the crafting screen before committing materials; the guide does not specify a universal level threshold or fixed cost.

In its March 12, 2026 update announcement, Netmarble said Instance Dungeons and Encore Missions were integrated into a unified mode called Unstable Dungeon. The announcement confirms that integration as of that date; later updates may alter the mode, so consult the current client for its live rotation and rules.

The Unstable Dungeon guide describes one-on-one boss fights in either Jinwoo or Hunter mode, weekly boss rotation, Artifact and material rewards, and additional Battle Mission rewards. Once all Battle Missions are cleared for a tier, you can sweep that tier.
Plan around the mode’s choices
- Mode: Choose Jinwoo or Hunter mode according to the team you can field and the challenge presented; the guide does not establish one as universally better.
- Boss: Check the current weekly rotation before preparing, since the target changes.
- Missions: Review Battle Mission conditions if you want their additional rewards.
- Sweep: Clear all Battle Missions for a tier before relying on its sweep option.
7. A quick way to avoid wasting materials
- Claim Gate mission rewards as you reach them, and use manual Gate runs when intermediate-boss Special Commission credit matters.
- Advance the story to open the Artifact slots you plan to fill before treating your gear layout as complete.
- Check which Artifact improvement system you are using: enhancement has random outcomes at some steps, enchantment selects a substat but not its increase amount, and reforging is limited to eligible items.
- For Cores, remember that level-ups improve the two random stats, not the unique passive; enhancement attempts randomly select one of those two stats.
- Read the crafting screen’s current material and Gold costs, especially when selecting Artifact stats, because the cost varies with the chosen stats.
- Check the live Unstable Dungeon rotation and Battle Missions before choosing a mode or sweeping.
