To recruit effectively in EA SPORTS College Football 25, build a focused prospect board around roster needs, spend weekly hours where they can keep you competitive, and learn a recruit’s motivations before choosing a pitch. These 10 tips cover the Dynasty recruiting cycle—from identifying prospects to protecting commitments through signing day.
1. Recruit for roster needs and scheme fit
Start with the Team Needs view, then consider who is graduating, which starters are returning, and what your playbook asks of each position. EA’s example: a pass-heavy Veer and Shoot offense needs more receivers than a Pro Style offense. A highly rated prospect is less useful if the position is already deep or does not fit your scheme.
The Prospect List’s Recommended filter weighs team needs, pipeline, interest, and star rating. Treat it as a way to find candidates, not as an automatic recruiting plan.
2. Treat the 35-player board as a shortlist
Your recruiting board can hold up to 35 prospects. Use those places for players who address a need and have a plausible path to choosing your school. Refine the Prospect List with its position, interest, pipeline, and rating filters, then remove targets who no longer fit your plan.

3. Budget weekly hours for your program
Your recruiting-hour budget varies with program prestige and season timing. EA’s Dynasty guide gives a preseason example of 1,000 hours for a five-star program and 350 for a one-star program; these are game allocations, not real-world recruiting figures. The default maximum you can assign to one prospect per week is 50 hours. The position-specific Always Be Crootin’ ability raises that per-prospect maximum to 70.
Because the budget is finite, do not give every target the same allocation by habit. Concentrate hours on recruits who fill needs and are still reachable; a smaller program has less room to pursue a broad list at once.
4. Scout before making a major commitment
Scouting reveals attributes progressively: unscouted, partially scouted, mostly scouted, and fully scouted. A fully scouted attribute shows its exact rating, and scouting can also reveal abilities. It does not instantly provide a complete player profile.
Development trait is generally not scouted in College Football 25. EA says it is primarily revealed on National Signing Day, though a coach with the Mind Reader ability has a chance to learn it during an official visit. Use scouting to reduce uncertainty, not to assume you already know a prospect’s full potential.

5. Consider lower-rated prospects without counting on gems
In EA’s recruiting model, a gem means the player’s underlying skill is above what the star rating suggests; a bust means it is below. EA’s example is a four-star gem who plays more like a five-star prospect. Outcomes vary, so a gem is a possibility—not a dependable shortcut to a stronger class.
Evaluate lower-star prospects when they fit a roster need, scheme, or likely role. Their scouting information and fit matter more than simply hoping for a favorable label.
6. Uncover the three motivations before pitching
A prospect’s three motivations make up their Ideal Pitch. Stage-one recruiting actions uncover motivations while also building influence. Actions persist from week to week until the recruit commits, locks your school out, or you change the actions.
Compare those motivations with your program’s My School grades. A recruit whose priorities align with your school’s stronger grades is a more natural pitch target than one whose priorities point elsewhere.

7. Match soft sell or hard sell to what you know
EA describes soft sell as providing moderate influence with less downside if the pitch is wrong, making it useful while you still have incomplete information. Hard sell can provide more influence when correct, but carries a larger penalty when incorrect. A poor match can hurt the recruit’s perception of your school.
Use what you have learned about the Ideal Pitch and your school’s grades before choosing a hard sell. Do not treat it as the default simply because it promises greater influence when aligned.
8. Use sway when the overlap makes sense
A successful sway can add a second Ideal Pitch, giving your school another way to make its case around program strengths. EA says the odds improve when the pitch you choose shares one or two motivations with the recruit’s existing Ideal Pitch. With no overlap, success is possible but the odds are very low.
9. Schedule official visits around the race and the calendar
A prospect must be in your top five and have a scholarship offer to take an official visit. Visits can be scheduled for a home game or bye week, cost 40 recruiting hours each, and are separate from the prospect’s weekly allocation cap. You can host up to four recruits in one week.

A home-game visit can gain influence from a win; a loss can have a negative effect based on the game’s stakes. A bye-week visit avoids the game-result risk but does not provide a game bonus. Waiting for a marquee matchup may improve the occasion, but the recruit could commit elsewhere before that date.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.10. Pair visitors carefully and protect verbal commitments
Visitor combinations can affect the visit result. EA gives quarterback and left tackle as complementary positions that can earn a bonus; two quarterbacks visiting together compete and can hurt both visits. Choose activities that suit the prospects’ motivations and your school’s grades.
Recruiting does not end with a verbal commitment. Keep monitoring Dealbreakers through signing day: if the grade tied to a committed recruit’s dealbreaker falls below the required threshold, that recruit may decommit. A verbal commitment is not the same as a signed letter of intent.
How to compare prospects and visit dates
When choosing between prospects, weigh the factors EA identifies in Dynasty recruiting:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- How urgently the position is needed, given roster turnover and scheme fit.
- The prospect’s likely role and playing-time grade.
- How your school’s strengths match the prospect’s motivations.
- The prospect’s interest in your school and your pipeline relationship.
- What scouting has revealed, including attributes, abilities, and star or gem information.
- How many weekly hours it may take to remain competitive.
For visit timing, weigh the home-game stakes and chance of winning against the risk of waiting; consider a bye week if avoiding game-result risk matters more than earning a game bonus. Also account for visitor-position combinations, the possibility of an earlier commitment, and whether available activities match the recruit.
All mechanics above are for Dynasty mode in EA SPORTS College Football 25. EA’s official College Football 25 Dynasty Deep Dive is the primary reference for the recruiting rules described here. EA announced the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in its May 17, 2024 game-modes and platform announcement.
