Skybound Games and 11 bit studios announced a $99.99 PC physical Frostpunk 2 Special Edition in August 2024. The box pairs a Steam code for the Deluxe Edition with numbered collectibles, including an LED shadow box. It is separate from the Icebreaker and Whiteout console editions announced in 2025, which include game discs for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
What the PC Special Edition includes
Skybound’s August 7, 2024 announcement described a preorder edition sold through its online store, with a September 20, 2024 game release date. The announcement said it would ship globally; those were launch terms, not a guarantee of current stock or shipping availability. Skybound’s announcement and current product page document the edition.
Digital game and extras
- A Steam key for the Deluxe Edition, including the base game and three post-release DLCs.
- An exclusive in-game item.
- The Warm Flesh digital novella.
- A digital artbook and soundtrack.
Physical collectibles
- An individually numbered, limited-edition box.
- A multi-layered LED shadow box. Skybound’s product page describes it as 10 × 12 inches, with integrated lighting powered by batteries or USB.
- One of two embroidered faction patches, allocated at random.
- A metal-and-enamel keychain, two art postcards, and stickers.
The box is a physical collector’s package, but the PC game entitlement is a Steam code rather than a game disc. The official product page displayed $99.99 when checked for this article; price, stock, and terms can change.
How the console editions differ
A separate announcement from 5th Planet Games on July 25, 2025 covered PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions scheduled to release September 18, 2025, with preorders at select global retailers. These are disc-based console products, not alternate names for Skybound’s PC Special Edition.

What happened with delayed PC preorders
Skybound acknowledged that some physical PC Special Edition preorder copies were delayed ahead of Advanced Access. Its customer notice said affected customers would receive an emailed Steam key for the Deluxe Edition so they could play when Advanced Access began on September 17, 2024, and instructed them to use that email key rather than the code in the box. This was a remedy for affected orders at the time; it does not establish the status of present orders or any individual customer case. See Skybound’s customer notice.

- THIS IS AN EXPANSION TO FROST PUNK THE BOARD GAME. This is not a standalone game. You will need the Frost Punk Base Game in order to play with this expansion.
- POST-APOCALYPTIC SURVIVAL GAME: In Frostpunk, players will take on the role of leaders of a small colony of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world that was hit by a severe ice age. Their duty is to effectively manage both its infrastructure and citizens.
- STRATEGY BOARD GAME: Make the Laws, send out expeditions to uncover the fate of humanity in the frozen wastes, face the consequences of your actions in front of those you swore to protect.
- DREADNOUGHT EXPANSION: A deluxe upgrade to one of Frostpunk's most challenging scenarios, this expansion contains 1 plastic Giant Dreadnaught miniature that can be used to immerse yourself deeper into the game. This expansion is purely of aesthetic nature and does not in any way influence the mechanics of the game.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This board game is designed for 1 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 16 and older. Average playtime is approximately 120-150 minutes.
