The best multiplayer VR game for your group depends on what you want to do together: race, solve puzzles, explore, play party games, or compete. This shortlist covers twelve options across those moods, with player counts and crossplay details where the cited sources specify them. It is an editorial guide, not a tested ranking; check the current store listing for your headset and region before buying or arranging a session.
Choose by group and mood
Before settling on a title, compare the details that can make or break a group session:
- Platform and crossplay: Confirm that the exact headset, store version, and devices in your group can join the same lobby. A game being available on multiple platforms does not by itself establish crossplay.
- Group size: A maximum online lobby count is not necessarily the number of friends who can join a co-op campaign. The entries below distinguish those details when the sources do.
- Play style: Choose between casual social play, cooperation, deduction, sports, rhythm, exploration, and competitive shooting.
- Comfort: If the group includes VR newcomers or people sensitive to motion, check the specific game’s comfort options and movement requirements. Don’t assume a title is comfortable just because it is social or cooperative.
- Cost and access: Check the current regional store for price, free-to-play limits, DLC, subscriptions, and any Friend’s Pass conditions. Prices and availability can change.
12 multiplayer VR games to consider
1. Gran Turismo 7 — online racing
Pick this for friends who enjoy structured, competitive racing. PlayStation’s PS VR2 guide says online races can include up to 20 players. That figure describes the race’s online player count, not a private friend-only group. The guide’s inclusion does not establish compatibility or availability for every edition or region, so check the exact listing before planning a race.
2. Arizona Sunshine 2 — cooperative zombie action
This is a co-op choice for a small group that wants zombie-fighting rather than a competitive match. PlayStation describes online play with up to three friends, making four players in total. Check the listing for your platform and edition before inviting the group.

Beat Saber suits a group that wants quick, score-focused sessions built around music and movement. PlayStation describes online competition with up to four other players. Confirm the current multiplayer implementation and store compatibility for everyone’s platform; the cited player count does not guarantee that every version can join the same match.
4. No Man’s Sky — shared exploration and building
Choose No Man’s Sky if your group would rather explore and build together than queue for short matches. PlayStation describes sessions with up to three other explorers. UploadVR also reports that VR and flat-screen players can explore together through crossplay. Verify that the platforms and store versions your friends own support the same multiplayer session.

6. Among Us VR — social deduction
For a group that enjoys accusations, discussion, and hidden roles, Among Us VR offers a crew-versus-impostor setup. PlayStation describes a crew of nine others, or ten players total. Verify current platform status and crossplay before choosing it for a particular headset group.

Those are different formats: confirm the specific mode and group size you want before setting up a session.
8. Pavlov — multiplayer military and horror modes
Pavlov is aimed at shooter-oriented groups. PlayStation describes several modes, including five-versus-five Search and Destroy and a nine-versus-one horror hunt. 10. VRChat — social worlds and conversation
VRChat is for groups who want to talk, explore user-created spaces, and choose their own activity instead of following a fixed match or campaign. Forefront — 32-player battles
If a large lobby matters more than a twelve-title shortlist, consider Forefront. Android Central reported that its 1.0 release has 32-player battles on Meta Quest and Steam VR. The same report described a PS VR2 release as future at publication; check its current status rather than assuming it is available there.

- Open the game’s current listing in the relevant regional store and confirm headset compatibility.
- Look for explicit crossplay support across the group’s platforms; do not infer it from separate platform listings.

- Check the current price, DLC or subscription requirements, and any Friend’s Pass rules.
- Ask newcomers to check comfort settings and movement options before the session.
