The PSR unlock is tied to Assignment DEADEYE 2. For a supported route, check the assignment’s current in-game requirements, then pursue them in regular multiplayer or an EA-verified Portal experience while finishing matches. EA’s public guide does not give DEADEYE 2’s current step list, so there is no reliable current headshot count, range threshold, fastest map, or guaranteed one-match farm to quote. The title mentions the Barrett, but the official unlock information cited here confirms the PSR path only.
What unlocks the PSR in Battlefield 6?
EA’s Loadout Creation and Weapon Classes guide lists the PSR as an unlock from Assignment DEADEYE 2. It does not publish that assignment’s current checklist. Open the live Assignments menu in-game and read the displayed criteria before choosing a mode or trying to optimize a run.
That distinction matters: an assignment is not the same thing as a weapon hardware rank. EA’s progression guide, dated April 14, 2026, distinguishes Career XP, Hardware XP, and Battle Pass XP. Hardware XP advances the weapon’s hardware rank and can unlock weapon additions such as attachments; it does not by itself complete DEADEYE 2.
Where to make progress
EA says all multiplayer experiences and Verified Community Experiences in Portal grant full progression XP. That is the supported starting point for an efficient attempt. The statement does not promise that every custom Portal server—or every XP farm—will track DEADEYE 2.

If you try an experience outside those categories, check the assignment counter in-game to confirm it is advancing before investing a full session. EA’s public guidance does not rank maps or modes by how quickly they complete this particular assignment.
How to make each match count
- Read DEADEYE 2’s live criteria. Use the Assignments menu and note the exact weapon, action, and any other conditions currently shown. Do not rely on a remembered count or distance from an older guide.
- Choose regular multiplayer or an EA-verified Portal experience. Keep the assignment’s requirements in view; if you test another custom experience, verify that its counter moves first.
- Use the required sniper while pursuing the displayed objective. EA says kills and assists award Career XP and Battle Pass XP, as well as Hardware XP for the weapon used. The guide does not say that every kill or assist advances DEADEYE 2, so follow the assignment counter rather than assuming general weapon XP equals assignment progress.
- Play the match, not just the challenge. Revives, squad spawns, spotting, class actions, and objectives can contribute to progression categories, and match completion can award Career, Weapon, and Battle Pass XP according to time and result. These are useful ways to avoid leaving broader progression behind, but EA does not state that each action counts toward DEADEYE 2 itself.
- Confirm the unlock in-game. After the requirement is met, check the assignment and loadout menus for completion and PSR availability.
Why an XP farm may not be a shortcut
EA’s launch-period community update on player progression and Portal servers said XP-farming servers were taking capacity from community experiences and that EA was developing adjustments to reduce their number. That is policy context, not proof of a particular current penalty or a definitive rule for DEADEYE 2. It is also not evidence that a bot-heavy or unverified server will track the assignment.

The practical efficiency goal is to reduce downtime while completing the live on-screen challenge in an experience where you can verify progress—not to assume a farm server still works. EA’s progression guide also describes changes to match-completion bonuses, passive Hardware XP for using weapons or vehicles, lower weapon and vehicle Hardware XP rank-up requirements, and more accessible challenges. Those progression changes do not disclose DEADEYE 2’s current criteria.

Check the relevant weapon entry and live assignment text in-game before applying the PSR advice to another rifle. Do not assume the weapons share an unlock challenge.
