Beebom’s 15 picks cover several different kinds of PC survival game—not just crafting and hunger meters. The list includes co-op adventures, competitive multiplayer, survival horror, exploration, sandbox building, and city management. Its page was updated October 15, 2025, so “in 2024” is the title’s framing, not proof that every game launched that year or that this is a definitive 2024 release list. The games below follow Beebom’s selection and order, not a measured universal ranking.
How to choose among these survival games
Start with the kind of pressure you want. Some games ask you to endure a hostile environment; others make player raids, horror, or difficult management decisions the main challenge. Consider whether you want to play alone or with friends, whether other players can threaten your progress, and how much time you want to spend crafting and building.
- For co-op: Grounded, Palworld, and Valheim are presented as friend-friendly choices. Raft also builds its central loop around a shared, growing home at sea.
- For competition and social risk: Rust makes other players, alliances, and raids central to the experience.
- For horror: Sons of the Forest and Resident Evil Village lean into frightening threats; the latter is the clearest survival-horror pick here.
- For exploration: Consider Subnautica’s underwater world, Pacific Drive’s exclusion zone, or Ark’s prehistoric setting.
- For building and crafting: Minecraft and Terraria offer broad sandbox play, while 7 Days to Die ties construction to defense.
- For management rather than a typical adventure: Frostpunk makes a struggling city and its people the focus of survival.
These are distinctions in emphasis, not mutually exclusive categories: many of the games combine exploration, crafting, combat, and building.

Beebom’s article is titled “15 Best Survival Games on PC in 2024,” but its stated update date is October 15, 2025. PC Gamer’s separate January 11, 2024 feature covered games expected that year; it is a preview, not corroboration that these 15 games are 2024 releases.
