Where do you find iron ore?
Community guides list three iron-bearing regions:
- Stormtouched Highlands: One guide describes this as a primary iron area, making it a reasonable place to start.
- Fellhollow: Also listed as a region where iron ore can be found.
- Chaktan Kara: Listed alongside the Highlands and Fellhollow as an iron-bearing region.
The available location guides do not provide a verifiable, complete set of node coordinates or a route that ranks these regions by density, travel time, danger, or yield. Treat the region names as starting points, not a guarantee that every iron node has been listed.
How to find and verify a node
- Open an interactive map and check its iron-ore layer for markers in Stormtouched Highlands, Fellhollow, or Chaktan Kara.
- Travel to a marker in your current game and look for the ore node; map listings can be incomplete or differ from the live build.
- If a marker is missing or the node is not there, use another marker or search the other reported regions rather than assuming the listed position is definitive.
TH.GL’s Iron Ore (Medium) map page lists 130 markers and was updated September 15, 2026. That count is for its “Iron Ore (Medium)” category; it is not an authoritative total of every iron node or size in the game. The unofficial Dragonwilds CODEX interactive map says its map was verified for patch 0.12.1.1 on July 31, 2026. Map coverage and the game build may change, so confirm locations in-game.
What tool do you need to mine iron ore?
Community guides report that a Bronze Pickaxe or better is needed. The sources located for this guide are fan-maintained rather than an official item reference, so check the live game if the tool requirement appears different after an update.

What can you do with iron ore?
A fan guide reports that a Furnace turns 3 Iron Ore into 1 Iron Bar and that Artisan 10 is required. The same guide lists iron-related recipes for an Iron Bar, Medium Iron Nugget, Small Iron Nugget, Small Iron Bin, and Steel Bar. Recipes and progression requirements can change; check the recipe interface in your current game before gathering materials.
