To unlock the Arcane Pickaxe route in The Forge, find the Lost Guitar behind the false vine wall in Stonewake’s Cross, return it to the Bard, then use the Unknown Key on the iron gate in the cave. There is no single best pickaxe for every player: fan-guide stats favor Arcane for routine farming, Magma as a step toward tougher volcanic rocks, and Demonic for raw mining power. Other reported hidden areas include Crystal Caverns, Monke Island, Volcanic Depths, and Skal’s hideout, but the available fan guides do not establish a complete or currently verified list.
How to get the Unknown Key and reach the Arcane Pickaxe
- Find the false vine wall. In the cave at Stonewake’s Cross, look for the vine- or leaf-covered wall described in The Forge Database’s Secrets Locations guide. Pass through it to reach a lower hidden section.
- Pick up the Lost Guitar. The Pickaxes Guide says it is beside a skeleton in that section. [Note: URL not supplied for this source.]
- Return the guitar to the Bard. The guide reports that the Bard gives you an Unknown Key in exchange.
- Open the iron gate. Return to the main cave near Miner Fred, descend to the first broad chamber, take the right-hand route, and use the key on the gate.
- Buy the Arcane Pickaxe. The guide lists it for 125,000 Gold inside the gated area.
The route and reward are reported by unofficial fan guides, not confirmed by official game documentation. Names, locations, and the price may change with updates.

Choose Arcane for repeatable farming
The guide gives Arcane the highest luck and faster-than-normal speed among these three options, along with three rune slots. That makes it the guide’s farming pick, especially if you value repeated mining cycles more than the ability to handle the hardest rocks in fewer hits.

Choose Magma as a progression step
Magma raises reported power to 135, but has two rune slots and normal speed. The guide positions it as a step toward difficult volcanic nodes rather than the top choice for either luck or raw power.
Choose Demonic for difficult nodes
Demonic has the highest reported power in this comparison and is associated with Volcanic Rocks and Basalt Veins. Its listed -10% speed and 500,000 Gold cost are trade-offs; higher power does not make it the universal best pickaxe for farming.

What about the Heavenly Pickaxe and Hidden Maze?
A separate fan wiki page describes a Heavenly Pickaxe in a maze on Iceberg Island. It reports access by paying a ferry operator one Coinite, a daily changing maze, angel NPCs Zarall and Zachariel, and objectives of defeating 75 Skeleton Pirates and 17 Cthulhu-style beasts. The page lists 725 mining power, +85% luck, four rune slots, and a base price of 2,400,000 Gold. The Hidden Maze page
Availability is uncertain: the page labels the maze a time-limited event running January 11–13, 2026, while The Forge Wiki’s update history lists an Iceberg expansion on January 11, 2026 that added a maze and Heavenly Pickaxe. Those fan pages do not establish that the event or rewards are still accessible. Check the live game before planning around this route; the listed date range has passed.
