1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor simulation-focused racing, start with Assetto Corsa Competizione or iRacing; for Formula racing, consider F1 25; and for relaxed open-world driving, look at the Forza Horizon series. These are category picks, not a universal ranking of wheel feel: compatibility and setup depend on the exact game, wheel model, and platform.
Choose a game by the kind of driving you want
A physical wheel can make different driving games feel more involving, but the right starting point depends on whether you want precise circuit racing, Formula competition, rally stages, or a world to explore. The shortlist below combines editorial category guidance with official, device-specific compatibility information; it is not a hands-on comparison of wheel feel.
| If you want… | Consider… | Platforms and wheel caveats |
|---|---|---|
| GT circuit racing and detailed car behavior | Assetto Corsa Competizione | 505 Games lists supported devices including Logitech G29/G920 and Fanatec equipment. The support list was modified on 12 September 2023, so verify the current platform and device details before purchase. 505 Games support. |
| Structured sim racing and competitive events | iRacing | PC Gamer describes it as a demanding sim-racing option requiring a force-feedback wheel and substantial commitment; Nacon’s compatibility guide lists it for PC. Check current platform and subscription terms directly before deciding. PC Gamer’s PC racing-game guide and Nacon’s RS Pure compatibility list. |
| Formula racing and career play | F1 25 | EA publishes a supported-wheel list and presets for selected PC devices. A preset does not mean every wheel has one; EA also documents possible PC connection issues involving Javelin AntiCheat. See EA’s F1 25 wheel-support article. |
| Accessible open-world driving | Forza Horizon series | PC Gamer categorizes the series as open-world arcade racing. Nacon’s June 2026 RS Pure list includes Forza Horizon 4, 5, and 6; that establishes device-specific compatibility, not support for every wheel. PC Gamer and Nacon. |
| PC racing with wheel remapping options | Forza Motorsport | Forza’s official PC announcement describes remapping connected DirectInput devices and improved wheel force feedback. Confirm the current game and hardware status for your setup. Forza.net’s PC announcement. |
| Rally, off-road, or truck driving | Compare rally and truck simulators against your platform | Logitech’s legacy G29/G920 lists include examples such as DiRT Rally, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and American Truck Simulator for specified systems. Nacon lists EA Sports WRC and DiRT Rally 2.0 for its RS Pure. Check the exact title, version, system, and wheel. Logitech support and Nacon. |
What to check before choosing a wheel-supported game
- Start with your platform and exact wheel model. PlayStation, Xbox, and PC options are not interchangeable just because a product shares a family name. Logitech sells its PRO Racing Wheel in distinct platform variants, and its G29/G920 compatibility information separates system lists. Check the manufacturer’s page for your specific configuration: Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel and Logitech G29/G920 support.
- Look at the game publisher’s current device list. Compatibility pages can age. For example, 505 Games’ ACC list was modified in 2023, whereas Nacon’s RS Pure page was updated in June 2026.
- On PC, check whether controls need mapping. EA says selected PC wheel bases and rims have presets in F1 25. EA explains: “Some wheelbases and rims in F1® 25 come with default presets, which are ready-made control settings built into the game.” The presets can map buttons and set force feedback; they are not stated to cover every device. Forza’s PC information also describes remapping connected DirectInput devices.
- Separate basic input from full support and force feedback. 505 Games says an unlisted Windows DirectInput device might work in Assetto Corsa Competizione without being fully supported. A device receiving input does not establish that every feature or control behaves as intended.
- If your device is absent from a list, verify before buying. Ask the wheel maker and check the game’s current support information. Nacon’s June 2026 RS Pure page, for instance, says Forza Motorsport, rFactor 2, and The Crew Motorfest were still being optimized for full compatibility on that device.
Do you need an expensive wheel to start?
No premium wheel is established as a requirement for enjoying wheel-supported games. Compatibility with your chosen platform and game is the practical starting point. If comparing hardware, Logitech specifies 11 Nm torque for its PRO Racing Wheel and offers PC, PlayStation, and Xbox variants; that is a manufacturer specification, not evidence that the wheel is necessary or best for every player. See Logitech’s product details.
How to narrow down your first game
- Choose Assetto Corsa Competizione if GT circuit racing is the appeal and your specific setup appears on the current compatibility information.
- Choose F1 25 for Formula racing and career play, then check whether your wheel has an EA-listed PC preset or needs configuration.
- Choose Forza Horizon if you want open-world driving rather than a circuit-focused sim, and confirm support for your particular wheel.
- Choose among rally, off-road, and truck games by checking the exact title and platform against the wheel maker’s list; compatibility for one model or system does not establish it for another.
These options reflect different styles, not an objective winner. Even a first-wheel discussion such as this Reddit thread frames the question simply as finding games to try after buying a first steering wheel; the useful answer is to match the game to both the driving you want and the hardware you own.
