For choppy animation, start by turning off HD Mode if available and reducing visual effects and shadows; keep the highest frame-rate option only if it stays smooth on your device. Delayed actions or position jumps point to a different problem: your connection may be the bottleneck, not the graphics.
First, identify what “lag” looks like
Changing graphics settings is most useful when the game’s animation itself is uneven. If the picture remains smooth but actions arrive late, characters jump positions, or the game shows reconnect prompts, investigate the connection instead. Those symptoms can have different causes, so one graphics preset cannot solve every kind of slowdown.
- Choppy or uneven animation: Test graphics load and frame-rate settings.
- Smooth animation with delayed actions, position jumps, or reconnect prompts: Check your connection and whether the game service is experiencing an issue; lowering visual quality may not fix network delay.
- Stuttering mainly in crowded fights: Compare performance in a similarly busy scene after lowering graphics settings. An empty lane is not a comparable test.
- The game slows after you have played for a while: Heat could contribute, but the later scene may also be more demanding. Compare similar scenes after a similar play duration, then repeat after the device has cooled before drawing a conclusion.
- The whole phone feels slow: Start with the device maker’s general update, restart, storage, and support guidance rather than immediately deleting app data or resetting the phone.
MOONTON’s Terms of Service say players may need a suitable internet connection and that the company cannot guarantee minimum internet performance, speed, reliability, availability, or consistency. Settings therefore cannot promise a lag-free match.
Best starting settings for a phone that stutters
Use this as a troubleshooting starting point, not a universal best preset. The independent GamerSpecs Mobile Legends profile guide proposes a competitive setup with reduced visual effects and HD rendering while aiming for a high frame rate. It is not an official MOONTON preset, and its suggested profiles or performance outcomes should not be treated as results guaranteed on your phone.

- Turn off HD Mode if the option is available.
- Reduce visual effects and shadows, if those controls appear in your version.
- Keep the highest frame-rate option your game offers only while it remains stable.
- If stuttering continues, lower the frame-rate target by one available tier and compare again.
These changes trade some visual detail for a lighter rendering workload. Your device, heat, power limits, background apps, and game updates can all affect the result; menu labels and available options may differ by device, operating system, region, and game version.
How to test changes without guessing
- Choose a scene that resembles where the slowdown occurs. If the problem appears in team fights, use a comparably busy scene rather than an empty lane.
- Keep the frame-rate target unchanged and adjust one graphics setting, such as HD Mode or effects.
- Repeat the comparable scene and check whether animation is more consistent.
- If the stutter remains, lower the frame-rate target by one tier and repeat the comparison.
- If performance changes mainly after extended play, let the phone cool and compare the same kind of scene after a similar play duration.
Changing one setting at a time makes it easier to see which adjustment helps. If smoothness does not improve after reducing graphics load and then the frame-rate target, look again at whether the symptom is actually connection-related or part of a wider device slowdown.

Why the highest FPS setting may not be best
A higher frame-rate target can make motion look smoother when the phone can sustain it. If the device cannot hold that target consistently, a lower stable option may feel better than a higher one with repeated drops. Select from the options MLBB actually exposes on your device rather than assuming a particular number is supported.
A 90 Hz or 120 Hz display does not, by itself, establish that MLBB offers the same frame-rate tier for that phone. Options can vary by model and game version. MOONTON’s patch index lists version 2.2.16, dated September 16, 2026; that is version context only, not evidence that a particular performance option was added or changed. Avoid unofficial FPS unlockers
Do not force hidden frame-rate options with modified clients or configuration edits. The independent GamerSpecs troubleshooting guide advises against unofficial FPS unlockers and modified clients. Stick to settings offered in the game and supported for your device.

Emulator settings are separate from Android or iOS phone settings. For BlueStacks 5, its Mobile Legends support page, dated March 6, 2026, recommends High Performance mode, four CPU cores, at least 4 GB of memory, and a 60 or 120 FPS target. Those recommendations apply to BlueStacks 5, not to the in-game settings on a phone.
