The best VR racing game depends on the hardware you own and whether you want a console experience, PC VR, or a more casual standalone option. For PS5 owners with PS VR2, Gran Turismo 7 is the clearest pick: PlayStation confirms its requirements and VR modes. On PC, compare iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione; for Quest, Ultrawings 2 appears on a recent third-party shortlist, but its current availability and standalone status should be checked before you buy.

Quick picks by platform

Game Platform or setup Best fit Evidence and caveat
Gran Turismo 7 PS5 and PlayStation VR2 Console players who want a VR racing experience with both online and offline race support PlayStation and Gran Turismo confirm PS VR2 support and requirements. PS VR2 is not compatible with two-player split-screen.
iRacing PC VR PC players considering VR-focused competitive racing iRacing has an official VR support page with runtime guidance. That page alone does not establish exact headset compatibility or performance.
Assetto Corsa Competizione PC VR, according to a third-party shortlist PC players comparing another simulation-oriented option Its inclusion here reflects PakVR’s April 25, 2026 overview, updated June 22, 2026—not an official compatibility confirmation or comparative test.
Ultrawings 2 Quest/standalone, according to a third-party shortlist Readers looking for a less formal alternative to track-focused racing PakVR names it as a standalone Quest choice; current store availability and native standalone support are not established by the sources cited here.

Best confirmed PS VR2 racing game: Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 is the strongest recommendation when you already own—or intend to buy—a PS5 and PS VR2. PlayStation says the VR experience requires the PS5 version of the game, a PlayStation 5 console, and PlayStation VR2. Gran Turismo’s product page likewise says full PS VR2 support is exclusive to the PS5 version.

The official online manual says VR is supported in online and offline races, except two-player split-screen. It also lists dedicated VR Showroom and VR Replay modes. PlayStation states that online play requires an internet connection and PlayStation Plus. See PlayStation’s GT7 PS VR2 page, the Gran Turismo 7 online manual, and the Gran Turismo product page.

This recommendation is about verified platform support, not a claim that GT7 is objectively better than every PC or standalone title. If your goal is split-screen racing with another player, PS VR2 is not supported for that mode.

PC VR: compare iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione

iRacing

iRacing maintains an official Virtual Reality support page and advises users to select a VR runtime suited to their headset. That supports the basic conclusion that iRacing offers VR; it does not, by itself, confirm every headset, current performance, or the best setup for your PC.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

PakVR’s dated overview lists Assetto Corsa Competizione alongside iRacing as a PC VR option. Treat that as a shortlist recommendation rather than official confirmation: the sources cited here do not verify current headset support, system performance, pricing, or a direct comparison with iRacing. Check the game’s current platform information and your headset’s compatibility before purchase.

Rush VR (PSVR) (PS4)
  • Stunning environments: soar down five exhilarating mountains featuring real-time weather and time of day
  • challenging races: over 100 unique mountain paths to master, from basic Downhill trails to expert-level Suicide runs through the narrowest of spaces
  • multiple game modes: race to the finish, free flight, time attack, and score challenge, each requiring a different set of skills and strategies to succeed
  • epic multiplayer jumps: challenge up to 7 of your friends online or quick race against random jumpers
  • Molten tropics now available as free DLC

For either PC option, choose based on the sort of racing and online experience you want, then verify current hardware and runtime requirements. The available evidence does not establish a universal winner or comparative benchmark.

Quest and standalone: treat Ultrawings 2 as a lead to verify

PakVR’s April 25, 2026 article, updated June 22, 2026, identifies Ultrawings 2 as a standalone Quest choice. That is a third-party recommendation, not confirmation from a current first-party store listing. The sources cited here do not establish whether it is currently available for your Quest model or whether the version you find runs natively on the headset. Confirm those details in the current store listing before buying.

VR Karts - PlayStation 4
  • Varied Environments: Race through a grand castle, boost across the line on a sunset beach or race wheel to wheel with rivals through a twisty cave circuit
  • Online multiplayer and leaderboards: battle for first place in 6 player races across the different environments. Win races to climb the leaderboards and become the best online VR racer!
  • Championship trophy mode: play against AI racers in rookie, amateur and pro cups tracks. Also, random cup option Selects new tracks on each play-through for a constantly fresh challenge.
  • Time-Trial mode: Learn each tracks shortcuts and hazards to shave a fraction of a second off your lap record. Compare your best times with other players using the lap time leaderboards.
  • Varied Weapons: VR Karts has a host of weapons like EMP strike which reverse an opponent's steering. Use the head targeting that only VR can provide to take out rivals and cross the finish line first!

The same overview recommends GT7 for PS VR2 and iRacing plus Assetto Corsa Competizione for PC VR. These are useful titles to investigate, but they are not the result of an independent side-by-side test.

How to choose the right VR racing game

  • Start with hardware: GT7’s VR mode specifically requires a PS5 and PS VR2. For PC and Quest options, verify the current game listing and headset requirements rather than assuming compatibility from a roundup.
  • Decide how you want to race: GT7’s official manual confirms online and offline VR races, plus VR Showroom and VR Replay. The cited material does not provide enough evidence to compare the other games’ modes in detail.
  • Check the multiplayer constraint: GT7 supports neither PS VR2 two-player split-screen nor online play without an internet connection and PlayStation Plus.
  • Check costs and setup before committing: Current game prices, recurring fees, PC performance, wheel compatibility, and exact headset support are not established here. Verify those details for your region and hardware.

What the evidence does—and does not—settle

The official sources establish GT7’s PS5/PS VR2 requirements, its split-screen limitation, online requirements, and named VR modes. iRacing’s official support resource establishes VR support and runtime guidance. The wider PC and Quest shortlist comes from a single third-party overview published in 2026, not official compatibility documentation or comparative testing. There is no basis here for ranking every VR racing game by performance, popularity, or value.
