There is no single best spread for every playstyle.
What each attribute does in Avowed
The effects below come from a community-maintained attribute reference, rather than an official balance document. For patch-specific precision, check the descriptions in your game.

Which attributes should you level first?
For a flexible damage-focused start: Might
Might is a sound first investment if you deal damage with a mix of weapons and spells: the reference says it improves damage from all sources. Treat it as a broadly useful starting point, not proof that every character should keep raising it above all other attributes.
For bows, guns, or wands: Perception
Perception is a natural follow-up if you fight at range, because it affects critical-hit chance and maximum weapon range. Avowed supports varied combat with weapons including bows and guns, alongside spells; choose this when critical hits or reaching targets more effectively matter to your approach. The official Avowed site describes the game’s mix of combat options.

For faster attacks and spellcasting: Dexterity
Choose Dexterity when combat feels sluggish or you want to act more quickly. Its listed benefits include attack and cast speed as well as reload and equipment handling; it also affects consumable and parkour speed.
For frequent spell or ability use: Intellect
Intellect increases maximum essence, so it can help if resource limits interrupt your spell-heavy play. The cited attribute reference does not list increased spell damage as an Intellect benefit.

For durability: Constitution or Resolve
Pick Constitution if health or poison and bleed resistance are the issue. Pick Resolve if stamina is running out during attacks or blocks, or if you want its listed Second Wind benefits. These attributes address different constraints, so choose based on what is actually making fights difficult.
Why not put every point into one attribute?
The community-maintained reference reports that benefits per point diminish in higher attribute bands: points 6–10 provide less benefit per point than the first five, and points 11–15 provide less again. That makes it worth considering another attribute when the next point in your main stat offers less value. It does not establish a mandatory stopping point or a single optimal spread for every build.

A secondary guide from Game8 also recommends priorities according to their benefits rather than one universal order. Its guidance places Might and Perception among useful offensive investments, Constitution and Resolve among health and stamina choices, Dexterity as a speed option, and Intellect lower in that guide’s framing. That is one guide’s advice—not an official recommendation or a rule for every character.

Attributes may matter in interactions, but a complete, reliable current list of dialogue or exploration thresholds is not established here, nor is it clear which checks are permanently missable. Don’t allocate points around a supposed exact threshold unless you can verify it in your current game.

What to know about current-game accuracy
The official Avowed site lists the anniversary update as live and names New Game Plus, photo mode, a new weapon type, and other changes. The page does not document attribute-balance changes, so it does not establish that the update altered these effects.
There is also a narrow character-screen reporting caveat: an official issue-tracker report says the “Devastating Criticals” melee critical-damage modifier is not represented in a dedicated way in the Character tab. That is a limitation in how the stat is displayed, not evidence that the ability fails in combat.
