Yes. 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, an Xbox 360 game, joined Xbox’s backward-compatibility catalog on November 15, 2021, and the newly added games were playable on Xbox Series X|S. Whether you can play it depends on which console you own and whether you have a disc or digital copy.
How to play it on Xbox Series X
Xbox Series X can play compatible Xbox 360 discs. Insert your disc and let the console install the game; the disc must stay in the drive while you play. Xbox describes backward compatibility for eligible games you own as free, but the feature does not cover every older Xbox title. See Xbox’s backward-compatibility instructions.
Can you play it on Xbox Series S?
Series S is digital-only, so it cannot read a physical Xbox 360 disc. If you own the game digitally and it is available to your account, Xbox says compatible owned games appear in the console’s Ready to Install section. The 2021 addition confirms the game’s compatibility; it does not establish current digital-store availability.
What the 2021 announcement means
Xbox Wire announced more than 70 Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on November 15, 2021, and described the batch as the final addition to its backward-compatibility program at that time. Blood on the Sand appears in GamesBeat’s list of the added titles. The announcement did not say “75 other games,” so that headline count should not be treated as Xbox’s official figure.

#1 Best Overall
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Xbox said the catalog had reached limits because of licensing, legal, and technical constraints. That was its explanation in 2021, not a claim about every future game-preservation effort.
Does the game get improved graphics or performance?
Xbox describes general backward-compatibility features such as Auto HDR, resolution improvements for select games, and FPS Boost for selected titles. The sources establishing this game’s compatibility do not confirm which, if any, of those enhancements apply specifically to Blood on the Sand. Do not assume a particular resolution or frame-rate upgrade.
Rank #2
- The biggest, most Dynamic and most diverse open world ever created and now packed with layers of new detail
- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story
- Grand Theft Auto V also comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, the Dynamic and ever evolving Grand Theft Auto universe for multiple players
Buying a copy
If you are looking for a copy, check that it is the Xbox 360 version and confirm the listing’s region and condition. A disc is useful on Series X, but not Series S. Current stock, prices, and the status of digital sales are not established here, so verify those details with the seller or Xbox before buying.
