If Kenway’s Fleet hangs on “Loading” in the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the cause may be a Ubisoft connectivity problem—not necessarily your connection or game installation. Ubisoft Support acknowledged Fleet connectivity issues for some players in July 2024, but that historical report does not show whether the service is down now or explain an individual player’s problem. Check current Ubisoft notices, confirm which edition you’re playing, and use troubleshooting steps that match your platform and exact error.
First, confirm which Black Flag you’re playing
These steps concern the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and its Kenway’s Fleet online mode. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a separate recreation with a reworked Fleet accessed from the Captain’s Cabin. Ubisoft announced Resynced on April 23, 2026, with a July 9, 2026 release date; its Fleet and support information should not be treated as a fix for the original game. Check whether the problem is on Ubisoft’s side
Ubisoft Support acknowledged in July 2024 that “The Kenway’s Fleet online mode seems to be suffering from connectivity issues recently for some players.” A separate July 2021 Ubisoft Support response in a Steam Player Support discussion said players were unable to connect to Ubisoft servers. These are historical reports: they establish that service-side issues have happened, not that Fleet is currently unavailable or that a past incident caused your present failure.
Check Ubisoft’s current service notices and support channels before making changes to your setup. A general indication that servers are running does not necessarily settle whether a particular online feature is reachable for your account, platform, or region.

Try troubleshooting that matches your platform and error
Ubisoft’s connectivity guidance directs players to basic steps for their specific platform. It also notes that your internet service provider and how connection speed is shared can matter. Follow the instructions for the platform you actually use; a loading screen by itself is not enough evidence to justify a particular router or firewall change.
If Ubisoft Connect PC shows a server error
If the exact message is “Service is unavailable” or “A Ubisoft Server is unavailable” in Ubisoft Connect PC, Ubisoft says an outdated client can cause these errors. Close Ubisoft Connect fully and install the newest version, following Ubisoft’s instructions. This is a step for those specific PC messages, not a guaranteed fix for every Kenway’s Fleet loading problem.

If you play on console or another platform
Use the platform-specific steps on Ubisoft’s connectivity page rather than applying PC client instructions. If those steps do not help, report the issue to Ubisoft Support with your platform and game edition, the exact error or a screenshot, whether Fleet worked on your account before, and when the problem began. Ubisoft Support has requested screenshots and information about whether Fleet previously worked in a Fleet-related discussion.
Do not rely on the old companion app
The original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag companion app is discontinued and no longer supported, according to a February 2021 statement from Ubisoft Support. An old installation may have connection problems; reinstalling it or trying to find an old copy is not a supported solution for a Fleet loading hang.

What a loading hang does—and does not—tell you
A Fleet screen that never finishes loading does not, on its own, identify the cause. Ubisoft’s historical acknowledgements show that connectivity issues have affected Fleet and Ubisoft servers before, but available information does not establish a current outage by platform or region, how often Fleet failures happen, or a single fix that works for every player. When contacting support, the edition, platform, precise message, timing, and whether Fleet used to work help distinguish one case from another.
