Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 covers a lot of ground: a co-op campaign, Endgame, multiplayer, several Zombies modes, and Dead Ops Arcade 4. Activision calls it “the biggest Black Ops ever,” but breadth is not the same as quality. Reviews published in November 2025 found clear differences between modes, with criticism of the campaign alongside praise for multiplayer—and, in TechRadar’s case, Zombies.
Is Black Ops 7 worth playing?
It depends on which part of the game you want. The available reviews do not support a simple verdict that every mode succeeds or fails together: PCGamesN was negative about the campaign but positive about multiplayer, while TechRadar praised multiplayer and Zombies and criticized the campaign. Those are individual publications’ assessments, not a comprehensive critic consensus or a firsthand review here.

The practical takeaway is to judge Black Ops 7 by the mode you expect to spend time in. If you mainly want multiplayer or Zombies, the cited reviews give more reason for optimism than they do for the campaign. If the campaign is your priority, the reviews raise a substantial caution.
What “biggest Black Ops ever” means
Activision’s official page markets the game as “THE BIGGEST BLACK OPS EVER.” Its feature lineup includes a co-op campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, and Dead Ops Arcade 4; the Zombies offering includes Standard, Directed, Survival, and Cursed modes. That is a claim about the game’s scope, not independent proof that every mode is better or more substantial than its predecessors. Activision’s Black Ops 7 page also calls the launch Zombies map the biggest round-based Zombies map in Black Ops history—again, a publisher description rather than an independently measured comparison.

Campaign and Endgame
The campaign is the sharpest point of disagreement between the game’s feature breadth and its critical reception. PCGamesN’s November 21, 2025 review framed it as a dud, and TechRadar’s November 19, 2025 review also criticized the campaign. These are not interchangeable assessments of every player’s experience, but together they make the campaign the clearest reason to be cautious if story-driven play is your main draw.
Activision presents the campaign as co-op, and its support page says solo gameplay in Co-op Campaign is the exception to the subscription requirement that applies to social features and all other game modes. The cited reviews do not establish that solo and co-op campaign play are equally successful, so choose based on your preferred way to play rather than assuming one format resolves the campaign concerns. Endgame is part of the mode mix, but the cited evidence does not provide enough detail to judge its quality independently or settle whether it competes with Zombies for players’ time. Treat it as a separate reason to examine current mode descriptions, not as proof that the campaign criticism is irrelevant.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is the most consistently encouraging part of the cited reviews. PCGamesN praised it, and TechRadar also rated it strongly. That does not establish a universal consensus, but it gives players primarily interested in competitive matches a stronger reason to consider the game than the campaign reviews do.

The pages may be using different counting contexts; they should not be silently combined into a single total. Zombies and Dead Ops Arcade 4
Zombies has four named modes on Activision’s feature page: Standard, Directed, Survival, and Cursed. That gives the mode a broader set of play formats than a single round-based offering. TechRadar praised Zombies in its November 19 review, while PCGamesN’s review summary said Zombies did not impress its reviewer. The contrast is a reminder that these are publication-specific judgments, not a settled verdict.

Activision also includes Dead Ops Arcade 4 in its official mode list. The available review evidence does not assess it in enough detail to make a separate quality claim. Its presence adds to the range of activities, but a feature list alone cannot tell you whether it will be a major reason to play.

Activision lists Black Ops 7 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Battle.net, Steam, and Game Pass. Its worldwide launch announcement gives November 14, 2025 as the release date. Cross-progression is available across platforms linked to the same Activision account, according to Activision’s cross-progression support page. Activision also says gameplay across the co-op campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone can earn XP. This makes account linking relevant if you expect to move between supported platforms; it does not mean progress is shared across unrelated accounts.
Activision’s editions guidance says a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Essential subscription is required for social features and all game modes except solo gameplay in Co-op Campaign. Requirements can vary by platform and may change, so verify the current rules for your system before buying or trying to play online. The same support page describes Vault Edition availability and upgrade options for certain digital bundle and Game Pass subscribers; eligibility depends on the edition and access route, so consult the current page rather than assuming every owner can upgrade.
