When it was running, digital preorders were registered automatically, physical console preorders at participating retailers used a code, eligible Game Pass plans provided early access, and the public open beta required no preorder or code.
Is the Black Ops 7 beta still open?
No. Activision scheduled the beta for October 2–8, 2025. Early access began October 2 at 10 a.m. Pacific, the free public open beta began October 5 at 10 a.m. Pacific, and the event ended October 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific. Those dates are past; a code cannot provide access to the closed beta. Activision’s beta and preorder guide and the Xbox Wire access guide published the schedule.

Did you need a Black Ops 7 beta code?
It depended on how you planned to join. Codes were for early access through qualifying physical console preorders; digital preorders were registered automatically. Once the open beta began on October 5, anyone could play for free without a preorder or code.
| Route during the 2025 beta | Code needed? | What it provided |
|---|---|---|
| Digital preorder of any edition | No | Automatic registration for early access. |
| Physical console preorder at a participating retailer | Yes | A retailer-provided beta code for early access. |
| Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC | No code route was specified | Activision identified these plans as eligible for early access. |
| Public open beta, October 5–8, 2025 | No | Free access for all players on all platforms during the open period. |
How each access route worked
Digital preorder
A digital preorder of any edition automatically registered the player for early access. You did not need to look for or redeem a beta code. Activision’s preorder guide describes this digital registration route.

Physical console preorder
Physical editions were console-only and available through select participating retailers. A qualifying physical preorder came with a beta code for early access; the retailer was the source of that code. This was the preorder route where a code mattered. Activision’s guide does not establish current validity for any beta codes, and the event has ended.
Game Pass
Activision identified Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC as eligible plans for early access. That does not establish eligibility for every Game Pass tier, so do not assume another plan qualified. The launch-era offer also included access to the full game at launch, but that benefit is separate from the now-closed beta.

Public open beta
From October 5, 2025, no preorder, subscription, or code was required for the public open beta. It was free to all players on all platforms through the scheduled end on October 8. Xbox Wire’s Kyle Ocean stated on October 2, 2025: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Open Beta access is available for all players from October 5 – October 8.” See the Xbox Wire guide.
Can you buy, trade, or redeem a code now?
No code can restore access to this ended beta. The official event information documents how early access worked in 2025, but does not establish that any beta code remains valid now. Avoid buying or trading a code on the assumption that it will grant entry.
Rank #3
- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
What if you missed the beta?
The beta is no longer playable. Buying Black Ops 7 now cannot grant access to the ended beta; the preorder benefits described by Activision applied to the scheduled event, not a continuing access window.
