Yes—but the straightforward official way is to give someone a PlayStation Store gift card, not to send a chosen digital game directly to their PSN account. The recipient redeems the code and uses the credit to pick and buy an eligible game.

How to gift a PS5 game to a friend

PlayStation describes Store gift cards as its go-to way to gift digital games on PS5, PS5 Pro and PS4. You can give the recipient a digital code or a printable gift card; PlayStation says gift cards are available through online retailers, with email delivery and printable PDF options. The card provides Store credit rather than a specific game. The recipient chooses what to buy, which can be helpful if you are unsure what they already own or want. Credit may be used for eligible Store purchases such as digital games, add-ons and subscriptions.

Can you send a specific digital PS5 game?

The official guidance cited here explains gifting digital game value with a gift card; it does not describe a Store checkout feature for sending a selected digital game to another PSN account. If you want the recipient to receive a particular digital title, the documented option is to give them Store credit and let them buy it themselves.

Check the recipient’s account region

Buy a voucher that matches the country or region of the recipient’s PlayStation account. PlayStation says a voucher code must match the account region and cannot be redeemed on an account from another region. This matters especially when gifting across countries: a card bought where you live may not work for the recipient.

Give the code to the right account

Voucher codes are single-use, and PlayStation says wallet funds or content cannot be transferred between accounts. Give the unredeemed code to the recipient so they can redeem it on their own account; do not redeem it on your account as a way to pass the credit along.

Do not use account sharing as a gifting workaround. PlayStation advises users not to share account details. A gift card lets the recipient redeem the gift without handing over credentials.

Gifting to someone with a child account

For a child account, coordinate with the family manager before buying or redeeming wallet credit. PlayStation says wallet top-up codes must be redeemed on the family manager’s account. The manager can set the child’s monthly spending limit, and the child account makes purchases using the manager’s wallet funds within that limit. See PlayStation’s payment-method guidance.

How to redeem a PlayStation Store code on PS5

On the PS5, sign in to the account that should receive the gift.
Open PlayStation Store, open its menu, and select Redeem Code.
Enter the 12-digit voucher code and follow the on-screen instructions.

PlayStation also supports redeeming codes through its website or the PlayStation App. Once redeemed, the credit or content is applied to the signed-in account; if the voucher is for a game, the recipient can download it.
