Bonepiles appear in all five regions of Monster Hunter Wilds. Their contents depend on the region and whether you are playing Low Rank or High Rank; some named bone materials instead come from carving monsters or quest rewards. Use the region and rank tables below to find the right source.
Where to find bonepiles by region
These are the numbered areas where bonepiles are listed. Node availability can vary with the environment, so use the in-game map to confirm what is currently available. The area numbers are pointers, not exact coordinates. PowerPyx and Monster Hunter HQ list the following areas.

Bonepile materials by region and rank
The table shows the regular bonepile materials named for each region and rank by PowerPyx. “Rare” is retained where the guide identifies Dragonbone Relic that way. An omitted material is not listed for that combination in the guide; it should not be read as proof that it can never appear.

Shared and rare materials
Mystery Bone and Sturdy Bone appear across the listed Low Rank region pools; Quality Bone appears across the listed High Rank pools. Dragonbone Relic is listed as rare in the Windward Plains and Oilwell Basin at High Rank, and as a High Rank material in the Ruins of Wyveria. The source does not label it rare in that region.

Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
How to locate and gather a bonepile
- Open the map and filter gathering icons to show Bonepile.
- Select a displayed bonepile and set it as your waypoint.
- Follow the Seikret to the marked node, then gather. PowerPyx says each node can be gathered three times in a row.
Geologist grants an extra item when gathering from bonepiles, according to PowerPyx. Regional upsurges may also add nodes. The guide’s practical tips are not a guarantee that a particular node or item will be available under every environment state.
Other bone materials come from monsters or quests
Not every item with “bone” in its name is a bonepile drop. Monster Hunter HQ lists Colossal Bone as a possible carve from Conga in the Scarlet Forest or Blango in the Iceshard Cliffs. Its guide also identifies Stoutbone and Monster Keenbone as potential rewards from listed High Rank monster quests, and Great Stoutbone and Monster Hardbone as potential rewards from other listed High Rank hunts. These are possible sources, not guaranteed drops; the guide does not establish drop rates. See Monster Hunter HQ’s source listings.
Rank #2
- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
The published bone-material list also names Brute Bone. The cited listings here do not establish its source, so it should not be treated as a confirmed bonepile material or assigned a location based on its name alone.
Fossil-node trade materials such as Fossilized Opal, Fossilized Fire Opal, and Ancient Fossil are a separate category, not bone crafting materials, according to Monster Hunter HQ.

Respawns and farming availability
Game8’s Japanese guide reports that ordinary field bonepiles respawn in about 15 minutes and that starting a Free Quest restores gathering nodes. Treat the interval as an approximate guide tip rather than a fixed timer: the same guide notes that bonepile availability varies with environmental state. Its advice is to filter the map for bonepile icons and travel by Seikret. Game8’s guide.
