Football Manager 26 update 26.0.4 brought more than 300 fixes and quality-of-life improvements, including adjustable UI transitions, custom attribute colours and faster match-speed options. The Steam Public Beta build appeared on 5 November 2025; the wider update rolled out to Steam, Epic and Microsoft Store on 6 November. It was not part of FM26’s 4 November launch-day build.
When did FM26 patch 26.0.4 arrive?
The dates distinguish the Steam test build from the subsequent general rollout:

So “day-one hotfix” describes its timing in FM26’s early retail period, not a patch included on launch day. The initial beta availability was Steam-only; that does not describe the later PC-store rollout. The notes said Console, Touch and Mobile updates were expected later, subject to platform submissions, and do not establish their release dates.
What changed in the update?
Sports Interactive described the update as containing “more than 300 fixes and quality of life improvements.” Its published change list is explicitly non-exhaustive and does not count fixes by category. The most visible player-facing additions were:

- UI transitions: an option to disable screen-to-screen transitions or adjust their speed.
- Attribute colours: manual customisation, alongside revised default colours intended to make ratings easier to distinguish.
- Match speed: 1.5x speed during highlights and 4x speed between highlights.
- Holiday processing: the spacebar can interrupt holiday or processing.
Career, tactics and scouting fixes
- Halftime substitutions made from the tactics screen now process correctly.
- Tactic familiarity progresses correctly.
- Manually scouting a player delegates an appropriate scout.
- Set-piece attributes appear when assigning takers.
- Player Database results are corrected when switching Interest Levels.
- The update also refined 2025 NWSL squad registration rules and adjusted transfer-installment handling.
Stability, matches and presentation
The notes include substantial crash and stability fixes, fixes for single-player Career matches freezing at the start of the second half, and numerous translation, text-alignment, tile and card-polish changes. They also cover match presentation and career navigation. These descriptions do not establish how many individual issues were addressed.
Does 26.0.4 mean crashes and freezes are gone?
No. The update notes report stability improvements and fixes for particular freeze scenarios, but the list is non-exhaustive and does not promise that all crashes or match freezes were eliminated. Nor does “more than 300” mean 300 stability fixes: it is the publisher’s total for fixes and quality-of-life improvements combined.

Is 26.0.4 still the latest FM26 update?
No. Version 26.0.4 is an early update, not the current version. Football Manager’s official news index later records update 26.3.1: Football Manager news and updates. The 26.0.4 notes remain useful for understanding what changed in that specific release.
