Where can I browse PS4 games?
Use the PlayStation Store’s browse filters to narrow games by platform, genre, supported features, release date, VR, and age rating. Select PS4 for the platform filter, then open an individual game listing to check its current edition, availability, and features. Store listings can vary by region and change over time.

PlayStation’s US PS4 page is useful for discovering featured games, but it is not presented as a permanent, exhaustive list of every release. Its current examples include Grand Theft Auto V, Street Fighter 6, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – Game of the Year Edition, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Red Dead Redemption 2, Resident Evil 2, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Far Cry 5, Dragon Quest XI S, Doom Eternal, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Monster Hunter: World, Tetris Effect: Connected, Persona 5 Royal, NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition, and It Takes Two. How many PS4 games are listed?
There is no supported single worldwide total in PlayStation’s storefront pages. The figures below are regional, changing store displays—not counts of every PS4 game ever released.

Store counts do not establish a complete inventory of historical releases across regions, physical editions, or games no longer listed digitally. For a particular title, search the store serving your region and check the exact product page.

Start with what and how you want to play, then confirm details on the game’s current listing. PlayStation’s store filters can help narrow the selection.

- Solo or multiplayer: Check the listing’s supported features for the modes and play options that matter to you, including local or online play where specified.
- VR: If you want a virtual-reality game, use the VR filter and confirm the hardware requirements on the individual listing.
- Age rating: Use the age-rating filter to find games appropriate for the intended player.
- Edition and platform: Confirm that the listing is for PS4 and check the edition name; similar titles may have different editions or platform versions.
Can I get PS4 games on disc or digitally?
Both formats are options, but not every game is necessarily offered in both. A physical PS4 game is on Blu-ray Disc and can be bought from shops or online retailers; digital PS4 games, free-to-play titles, and demos are available through PlayStation Store. Check the specific game’s listing or retailer page to confirm the format and edition before buying. PlayStation’s PS4 beginner guide describes both ways to get games.
For a digital PS4 game you already own, PlayStation’s download instructions say to go to Library > Purchased, select the game, and choose Download. Some PS4 games have an upgrade offer for a digital PS5 version, but eligibility and any price depend on the title and offer. Follow PlayStation’s game download instructions and check the game’s listing for current upgrade details.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that physical game disc production for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028. That statement concerns production for new games from that date; it does not say that PS4 discs already released will stop working. See Sony’s announcement for its wording and context.

Sony says the PS5 is backward compatible with the majority of PS4 games. PlayStation also states that more than 99 percent of the 4,000+ games available on PS4 are playable on PS5, and that more than 4,000 games are ready to play across PS4 and PS5. These are Sony’s compatibility figures, not a complete count of every PS4 title; check the support page and the individual game listing for title-specific compatibility or upgrade information. Will a PS4 disc work on PS5 Digital Edition?
No. The PS5 Digital Edition has no disc drive, so it cannot play a physical PS4 game disc. Disc-based play requires a PS5 model with a disc drive. A digital game purchase is separate from owning its disc; check your account library and the game’s listing for available digital versions.
