There are 11 Ancient Crawler activities in Borderlands 4, spread across the Fadefields, Carcadia Burn, and Terminus Range. Each one requires powering up a crawler and climbing it to collect a reward. This region-by-region checklist names every location, explains the general activity steps, and includes specific route details where a guide provides them.

These names and regions are listed in PowerPyx’s Ancient Crawler guide, published September 11, 2025. That guide gives step-by-step directions for Slugmetal Ditch, The Roaming Pasture, and The Eminent Husk; it names the other locations but does not provide full route instructions for them.
How to power a crawler and claim its item
PowerPyx describes the usual sequence as finding a battery or power node near the crawler, bringing it to the power station, and climbing to the top once the machine is active. When you approach a crawler, the activity is pinned on screen. The guide says to use the scanner—D-pad Up or Z on PC—to reveal a line leading to the battery. Follow that line, carry the power source to the station, and then climb the crawler to collect the item at the top.
Slugmetal Ditch: Coastal Bonescape
At Slugmetal Ditch, the guide directs players to a marked container and a console interaction as part of powering the crawler. Its page does not provide a complete route description beyond those steps, so use the scanner’s line to locate the power source rather than relying on an assumed path.

The Roaming Pasture: Hungering Plain
At The Roaming Pasture, the power node needs to be thrown up to a balcony before you climb the ladder. Retrieve it, toss it to the balcony, then take the ladder and bring the node to the station.
The Eminent Husk: Idolator’s Noose
At The Eminent Husk, toss the power core onto the main platform before inserting it into the station. After the crawler powers up, climb it to reach the item.

Neoseeker’s search-result description independently outlines the broader power-cell, receptacle, and climb sequence, and corroborates several Fadefields locations, including Slugmetal Ditch, The Roaming Pasture, The Eminent Husk, and Pester’s Grotto. Its page was not available for direct verification, so the named list and detailed steps above rely on PowerPyx’s guide.
Rewards, challenge, and achievement
PowerPyx identifies Ancient Crawler activities as one of the activity types required for the Ruler of Everything trophy and achievement. Game8’s search-result text says individual crawlers reward vehicle cosmetics and that completing all 11 finishes the Hunks of Junk challenge, which grants an additional vehicle cosmetic, experience, cash, and Eridium. Game8’s page could not be directly retrieved, so those challenge reward details are attributed to its search-result text.

There is also a current official reward note: Gearbox Support’s version 1.6 patch notes, published April 29, 2026 and updated July 2, 2026, state: “The Ancient Crawler activity now gives out the intended amount of SDU tokens.”

Yes. PowerPyx says the locations are not missable and can be completed during post-story free roam. Some areas may still require story progress before you can reach them, so a locked or inaccessible location does not necessarily mean the activity has been missed.
