When did Oblivion Remastered come out?
Bethesda announced and made Oblivion Remastered available on April 22, 2025. The reveal and release happened on the same day, rather than following a long announcement-to-launch wait. Bethesda’s official reveal video and launch announcement marked the release.
What platforms is Oblivion Remastered on?
The game initially released for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, and was available through Game Pass at launch. The later platform addition is Nintendo Switch 2, where it launched on August 11, 2026.

The platform and date information comes from Bethesda’s April 2025 launch announcement and its Switch 2 announcement. Bethesda Support also lists the original platforms, but its displayed platform answer does not reflect the later Switch 2 release.

Is Oblivion Remastered a remake or a remaster?
Bethesda calls it a remaster: a modernized version of the 2006 role-playing game, with updated visuals and refined gameplay. Xbox Wire describes the technical approach as retaining a core of the original Creation Engine game while applying an Unreal Engine 5 visual treatment and adding quality-of-life features. That description does not mean the entire game was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5.
The remaster was made in collaboration with Virtuos, according to Bethesda’s game page. The available official descriptions support calling it a visual and gameplay update, not claiming that it is a complete remake.

Bethesda describes the Switch 2 version as featuring updated visuals and refined gameplay, and says it includes the complete story experience. The Switch 2 release date was August 11, 2026. The specific content list published for PS5 names Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and additional downloadable content; Bethesda’s Switch 2 announcement uses the broader phrase “complete story experience.”
