You can use an Xbox controller on a PS5 through a compatible third-party adapter, but it does not pair with the console as a native PS5 controller. Support depends on the exact Xbox controller, adapter, firmware and game: Mayflash’s MAGIC-S Ultimate is a wireless option with PS5 support described primarily for fighting games, while Brook’s Wingman FGC 2 is a wired option Brook describes for PS5 games.
Can you use an Xbox controller on PS5?
Yes, with a compatible third-party controller adapter. Sony’s controller help guidance explains how to connect a DualSense; it does not provide a native Xbox-controller pairing path. That is not a blanket statement about every third-party device, but it means you should not expect to pair an Xbox controller directly to the PS5 over Bluetooth.
Adapters act as the connection between the Xbox controller and console. Their compatibility is not universal: check the precise Xbox controller model, adapter model and revision, the games you want to play, and current manufacturer firmware notes before choosing one.
Which Xbox controller adapters are options for PS5?
| Adapter | Controller connection | PS5 game support described by manufacturer | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mayflash MAGIC-S Ultimate | Mayflash lists Xbox Bluetooth controllers among supported controllers, as well as USB controller support. | Mayflash’s PS5 compatibility notes describe support primarily for fighting games. Do not assume it works across the full PS5 library. | Confirm your exact controller is supported and follow Mayflash’s current firmware notes and manual. Mayflash downloads and manuals. |
| Brook Wingman FGC 2 | Brook describes the FGC 2 as a wired-controller adapter. | Brook describes it as supporting wired controllers in PS5 games. | Check Brook’s compatibility list for your exact Xbox model and adapter revision, and consult its current firmware guidance. Brook compatibility list. |
| Brook Wingman FGC (not FGC 2) | Wired adapter. | Brook’s FAQ says the older Wingman FGC supports PS5 fighting games only. | Do not treat its compatibility as equivalent to the FGC 2. Verify the exact controller and intended game with Brook’s compatibility guidance. |
These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every controller-and-game combination will work. Neither product should be presented as Sony-authorized on the basis of these compatibility pages.

How do I connect an Xbox controller to a PS5?
The connection runs through the adapter, not directly between the Xbox controller and the console. The exact pairing mode and button sequence vary by adapter, controller and firmware, so use the current manufacturer instructions rather than relying on a universal sequence.
- Check compatibility first. Find your exact Xbox controller model in the adapter maker’s current list. For Brook, its FAQ cautions: “For those controller/stick which are not listed may be incompatible or not be tested yet.”
- Update and prepare the adapter. Read the manufacturer’s current firmware notes and manual for your adapter revision. Use the specified update process if the maker calls for one.
- Connect the adapter to the PS5. Follow the maker’s instructions for the correct port and any required mode or setup.
- Connect the Xbox controller to the adapter. Use the supported wireless or wired method for that combination. Mayflash lists Bluetooth and USB controller support; the appropriate mode depends on the controller and adapter firmware.
- Test in the intended game. A connection working in one title does not establish compatibility with every PS5 game. Check the adapter maker’s stated game scope if controls do not work as expected.
Will an Xbox controller adapter work with PS5 games?
It depends on the adapter and title. Mayflash’s MAGIC-S Ultimate PS5 notes focus primarily on fighting games, so it is not a safe choice if you need a promise of broad support across the PS5 library. Brook describes the Wingman FGC 2 as supporting wired controllers in PS5 games, but you still need to verify your specific Xbox controller on Brook’s list. The older Wingman FGC is a different product with a fighting-games-only scope according to Brook’s FAQ.

What to do if the Xbox controller does not connect
- Recheck the exact controller model against the adapter maker’s current compatibility list; an unlisted controller may be untested or incompatible.
- Confirm you are following the manual for the exact adapter model. In particular, do not apply Wingman FGC 2 expectations to the older Wingman FGC.
- Review current firmware notes and update instructions from the adapter maker. Console updates and adapter firmware changes can affect compatibility.
- Check whether the problem is limited to a particular game. An adapter’s stated PS5 support may cover only certain game types.
- If a supported connection method is available, consult the maker’s manual for whether trying wired rather than Bluetooth—or the reverse—is appropriate for your controller.
