Steam lists the game as unreleased, with its release date and PC requirements still to be announced.
What is Black State?
Motion Blur describes Black State as a story-driven third-person shooter. Its premise centers on a secret scientist organization, captives who need rescuing, and the truth behind a cataclysmic event. The announcement describes a single-player action-adventure, rather than a multiplayer game.
The studio’s official Black State website presents the project as a cinematic, narrative-led shooter. Those descriptions and gameplay features are developer claims; they are not a substitute for hands-on evaluation.
How does the door mechanic work?
Black State’s signature announced feature is a real-time transition through ordinary-looking doors. A door can open onto a different, unexpected place, and Motion Blur says the transition happens without an interruption for loading. If implemented as described, the mechanic could make level traversal itself part of the action, rather than simply linking one conventional room to another.

The studio also describes stealth and tactical combat, firearms and gadgets, time-slowing combat, close-range takedowns, human and robotic enemies, and boss encounters. These are announced features, not independently confirmed details about how they play or how often they appear.
Is Black State like Metal Gear and Portal?
“Metal Gear meets Portal” is promotional shorthand attached to the reveal trailer, not an official crossover and not evidence that either franchise’s owner is involved. The comparison points to two broad ideas: stealth and tactical action on one side, and doors that connect to unexpected locations on the other. It does not establish that Black State uses either series’ characters, story, or exact gameplay systems.

How close the game feels to either reference will depend on details that have not yet been established, including the balance between stealth and direct combat and how the door mechanic shapes full levels.
When does Black State come out, and which platforms are confirmed?
As of October 4, 2026, Steam lists Black State as “Release Date: To be announced” and says it is not yet available. The July 10, 2024 announcement report said the game was coming to PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The current Steam listing confirms the Steam page; Epic Games Store availability was not verified as current, so treat that storefront as part of the original announcement rather than a confirmed live listing.

No release window, price, or final platform list is established by those listings. Steam’s minimum and recommended OS, processor, and graphics fields are also marked TBA; there is not enough information to recommend a specific PC configuration.
What does the Steam listing say?
- Players: Single-player.
- Language support: English full audio and subtitles are listed, with interface and subtitle support in additional languages.
- Content: Steam’s description mentions intense violence, blood and gore, attacks that can cause decapitation and dismemberment, and occasional strong language.
- Rating: Steam displays an ESRB Mature (17+) label. Storefront labels and ratings can vary by territory and may change.
Steam also displays user-defined tags. Those tags are not official technical compatibility information and should not be treated as proof of hardware requirements.

What is still unknown?
Because Black State has not been released and its Steam page leaves key details pending, important questions remain open:
- Its release date, price, and final platform availability.
- Its official minimum and recommended PC specifications.
- How the announced stealth, combat, gadgets, and door transitions work across a complete campaign.
- Its real-world performance and the final scope of its content.
Motion Blur’s official website claims the game includes “over 100 brutal, cinematic kill moves.” That is a developer-stated count; it has not been independently verified, and the website does not date the claim.
