Team Asobi announced five free Astro Bot challenge levels for the Vicious Void Galaxy, with a scheduled release of July 10, 2025. That date has passed; the announcement confirms the planned schedule, but does not by itself verify the exact day the update became available. Four level names were revealed, while the fifth was kept secret.
When were the five Astro Bot levels scheduled to come out?
Studio Head Nicolas Doucet announced the update on June 4, 2025, and scheduled it for July 10 at 6:00 a.m. PT, 2:00 p.m. GMT and 10:00 p.m. JST. The announcement’s wording was: “We are delighted to announce yet more additional content landing in Astro Bot this July 10 at 6:00am PT, 2:00pm GMT, 10:00pm JST*.” Those times describe the announced schedule, not independent confirmation of the eventual rollout date. What are the Vicious Void levels called?
Team Asobi disclosed four names: Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc and High Inflation. It did not reveal the fifth name in the June announcement, instead writing, “and… well. You’ll have to play and see.” The announcement offers no basis for guessing the withheld title.
Was the Astro Bot update free?
Yes. Team Asobi said it was offering the extended experience “at no additional cost.” The announcement’s footnote specifies that players need the Astro Bot game and an internet connection for the add-on update. In other words, the levels were announced as a free update for owners of the game, not as a free copy of Astro Bot. The current PlayStation US game page describes Astro Bot as a PS5 game.

What else did Team Asobi say about the update?
A 90-plus-level total
Doucet said the five additions would bring Astro Bot to “90+” levels. This is the total stated in the June 2025 announcement, not a newly verified count of the game’s current levels.
Challenge levels and Special Bots
Team Asobi described the new stages as challenges that would test players’ skill and teased Special Bots associated with the levels. It also hinted that completing Vicious Void might lead to something else, without explaining what that would be. The announcement does not establish further details about those teases.

What do you need to play?
- Astro Bot for PS5: The game is required to access the add-on. PlayStation identifies it as a PS5-exclusive, single-player 3D action platformer developed by Team ASOBI.
- An internet connection: Team Asobi’s announcement says one is required for the add-on update.
- No themed controller requirement: PlayStation lists an Astro Bot Joyful Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller, but neither the announcement nor the product page makes it a prerequisite for the levels. The controller is an optional themed accessory.
How does this fit with Astro Bot’s other challenge levels?
PlayStation’s current US product page lists challenge levels including Hard to Bear, Armored Hardcore, Spring-Loaded, Helium Heights and Rising Heat. Those are present-day listings and should not be confused with the four Vicious Void names disclosed in the June 2025 announcement.
