What the Burning Glass does—and how to get it
The Burning Glass is a Workshop contraption made by combining the Metal Detector and Magnifying Glass. Its in-game description says, “Can light special candles and ignite fuses.” It can also light torches and thaw the Freezer’s ice. The Blue Prince Wiki’s Burning Glass entry documents these functions.

Do not expect it to preserve its components’ usual abilities: it cannot inspect documents like the Magnifying Glass or detect items like the Metal Detector. A Torch is a functional substitute for the documented ignitable targets, so use whichever you have available.
Every documented Burning Glass use
Crate Tunnel: light torches near the crates
Light either of the two wall-mounted torches near the crates to illuminate the dark area. You can then inspect the nearby document and collect the Tunnel floorplan. Both torches remain lit on future days, even if you light only one.

- DRAFTING YOUR JOURNEY - Upon reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly, you decide what room appears behind it and each decision shapes your path as you navigate through the manor. Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets. But be careful how you draft, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow.
- EVERY STEP COUNTS - Your progress each day is shaped by the rooms you select to draft and the tools you find within them. Items in the game can be used in a number of creative ways to fuel your exploration deeper into the house, allowing you to adopt unique strategies to combat the challenges that each day brings.
- A HISTORY IN THE MAKING - As the heir of Mt. Holly, you have been tasked to explore its shifting halls in search of Room 46. Yet as your journey takes you further into the mansion’s depths, you start to discover that there is more lurking under the surface than a missing room. Investigate a past woven with the threads of blackmail, political intrigue, and the mysterious disappearance of a local children’s book author.
- DAY ONE EDITION BONUSES - Pack-in bonuses include 18” x 12” fold-out poster of the magnificent Mt. Holly Manor and a download code for the official game soundtrack.
Chapel: reveal the Keeper of Tithes
Light both Chapel candles to reveal the Keeper of Tithes. Break it by hand to recover the gold previously donated in the Chapel. Once both candles are activated, they remain lit and cannot be interacted with again.
Freezer: thaw the ice
Thawing the ice exposes a frozen key, two frozen gems, a sheet of ice concealing a doorway and the contents of the cooler. The concealed room contains an Upgrade Disk and a note from Denny Revane. The cooler usually contains a Prism Key and a letter from Herbert Sinclair. The Freezer refreezes on subsequent days, so access to its frozen contents and concealed room is temporary.
Tomb: open two hidden chambers
The Tomb has two pairs of candles. Light both candles in a pair to raise a hidden wall; each opened chamber stays open permanently.

Plan around the component trade-off
The Metal Detector is a primary component of the Burning Glass. If you store the contraption in Coat Check or carry it forward with the Moon Pendant, the Metal Detector will be unavailable that day; the Magnifying Glass remains obtainable as usual. The Blue Prince Wiki’s Workshop contraptions entry describes component availability behavior.
Some ordinary paired candles can be relit on a later day without producing another effect, while special candles can remain lit permanently. Since outcomes differ by target, prioritize the Freezer when you want temporary access, and use permanent room or route openings when you want lasting changes.
