Next check that your GPU meets the published baseline and that Windows is running the game on the dedicated GPU—not an integrated adapter. If crashes recur at the same area transition after those checks, they may be a game-side defect rather than a failing PC.
Try these fixes in order
Begin with the low-risk Steam checks, then investigate hardware and drivers. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it affects the crash.
1. Install every pending Luma Island update
In Steam, check for a pending update for Luma Island, install it, and restart Steam before trying again. Feel Free Games announced a potential crash fix on September 1, 2025, and later advised players with continuing crashes to check for an update before verifying files. The announcement does not establish that every crash is fixed by that update. Feel Free Games’ update announcement.
2. Verify the installed files in Steam
- In your Steam Library, right-click Luma Island and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to finish, then relaunch the game and retry the same situation that caused the crash.

3. Check whether your GPU meets the published baseline
Open Windows Device Manager and expand Display adapters to identify your graphics hardware. Feel Free Games’ help guidance says the graphics card should exceed 10,000 PassMark points. Steam lists GTX 1060-class performance or at least 10,000 PassMark points as minimum graphics guidance, and a GTX 1660 Ti as recommended. Steam’s published system requirements also list 8 GB RAM minimum and 16 GB recommended, plus 7 GB storage minimum and 12 GB recommended. Those are separate from the graphics threshold; check them if your PC is close to the minimum requirements. Luma Island on Steam.

4. Assign Luma Island to the high-performance GPU
On a laptop with both integrated and dedicated graphics, Windows may run the game on the integrated adapter. Feel Free Games documents assigning the game to the higher-performance GPU:
- In Steam, open Luma Island’s Properties > Installed Files > Browse to locate
Luma Island.exe. - Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- Browse for and add
Luma Island.exe, select it in the app list, then choose Options. - Select High performance (the adapter with more than 10,000 PassMark points, if applicable), save, and relaunch the game.
Windows labels can vary by version, but the goal is to select the dedicated adapter rather than the integrated one. Feel Free Games: Luma Island help.

5. Update the graphics driver, then retest
Feel Free Games identifies outdated drivers as a possible cause of crashes and asks players to include driver versions when contacting support. Install the current driver through the official support channel for your GPU manufacturer, restart Windows, and test Luma Island again. Feel Free Games’ update announcement.
A developer reply also suggests using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall and reinstall a driver when every game has begun crashing. Treat that as a diagnostic suggestion for broader driver trouble, not as a guaranteed Luma Island fix. Feel Free Games’ support discussion.

6. Lower graphics load to isolate the problem
If your GPU is near the published baseline, reduce resolution, shadows, effects, or the frame-rate limit one setting at a time. Retest the same location after each change. This can help you identify whether graphics load affects the crash, but Feel Free Games and Steam do not promise that a particular setting will fix crashes.
7. Check whether the crash follows one area transition
Feel Free Games has discussed crashes reported when moving between areas and when entering the Pirate Cave Temple after an update. The developer released a potential fix and asked players whose crashes continued to provide system details and logs. If the same transition still crashes after updating and verifying, note the exact location, what you did immediately beforehand, and whether the failure is repeatable. 8. Send logs and hardware details to support
If the earlier checks do not help, contact Feel Free Games through its official support page. Include:
- Your GPU model and graphics-driver version.
- Your Windows version.
- Whether the crash happens everywhere or only at a particular location or transition.
- What you were doing just before the crash and whether it happens repeatedly.
- Any generated logs or bug-report folder available on your PC.
The developer has asked players to provide system specifications and logs to help investigate crashes on individual configurations. Feel Free Games’ support discussion.

- Crashes began after an update or files may be missing: install pending updates and verify the Steam files.
- A laptop has integrated and dedicated graphics: check which adapter the game uses and assign the high-performance GPU.
- Your GPU is below the published guidance, or crashes affect other games too: check hardware support and driver health before treating the issue as Luma Island-specific.
- The game fails repeatedly at the same area transition: record the location and report it with logs; a repeatable location-specific failure can be game-side.
Feel Free Games has said the game should not crash on a healthy PC meeting minimum requirements, while also identifying outdated drivers and integrated graphics below its stated threshold as possible causes. That guidance helps focus troubleshooting; it cannot establish the cause of an individual crash.
