If Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 crashes or will not start on PC, begin by verifying the game files in the launcher where you own the game. Ubisoft recommends this check to restore missing or corrupted files, but it is a first diagnostic step—not a guaranteed fix. If the symptom is a lost online connection rather than the game closing, use the separate connectivity checks below.
First, identify what is failing
The right next step depends on when the problem happens. Note whether the game fails to launch, closes during play, or stays open but cannot connect online. Also note your platform, launcher, any error message, and whether the issue began after a system or game change. The file-verification steps below apply to PC; consult Ubisoft’s current basic troubleshooting guidance for your platform if you play on console or need platform-specific help.
- Won’t start or closes during play: start with the PC file check.
- Game stays open but you cannot connect: follow the connectivity branch.
- Playing on a console: use Ubisoft’s current platform guidance rather than PC launcher instructions.
Verify The Division 2’s files on PC
Ubisoft Help recommends verifying files when a PC game crashes or cannot start, to restore missing or corrupted files. This is a low-impact diagnostic step; it does not establish that damaged files are the cause of every crash.
Ubisoft Connect PC
- Open Ubisoft Connect PC and select Library.
- Select The Division 2.
- Select the cog icon beside Play.
- Choose Verify files and let the check finish.
- Try launching the game again and note whether the original symptom changes.

Steam or Epic Games Store
If you installed the game through Steam or Epic, run that launcher’s built-in file verification for the game. The Ubisoft Connect route above is specific to Ubisoft Connect PC; use the store launcher’s own current interface for its copy.
If file verification does not stop the crash
Ubisoft says technical difficulties can be related to outdated system versions or particular system configurations. That does not identify one universal cause or establish a guaranteed sequence of fixes. Check Ubisoft’s current basic troubleshooting guidance for technical issues and choose the steps that match your platform and setup.

If the problem is an online connection
Connection troubleshooting addresses inability to reach online services; it is not a general fix for a local crash or startup failure. Ubisoft’s PC guidance recommends checking service status and then testing network conditions:
- Check whether Ubisoft services are available.
- If possible, test a wired connection to see whether Wi-Fi is involved.
- Restart your network hardware by powering it off and back on.
- Make sure Windows is up to date.
- Check for software conflicts; Ubisoft includes a clean boot among its troubleshooting options.
- If you still cannot connect, contact Ubisoft Support and include DxDiag and MSInfo reports as requested in its guidance.
Follow the details in Ubisoft’s PC connectivity troubleshooting guide. If you are unsure whether the game is crashing or disconnecting, record exactly what remains on screen and whether the game process closes.

What to send Ubisoft Support if the issue persists
Use Ubisoft Help for unresolved crashes. Include your platform and launcher, when the crash occurs (startup or during play), the exact error message if one appears, and the steps you have already tried. For a connectivity issue on PC, attach DxDiag and MSInfo reports as directed by Ubisoft’s connectivity guide. No single current fix is established for every crash, so these details help support assess the specific case.
