Borderlands 4’s Season’s Lootings holiday event ran from December 18, 2025, to January 8, 2026. Gearbox said eligible Legendary drops across Kairos were up to five times more likely than usual, but the boost was not a guaranteed fivefold rate for every boss or item—and Big Encore Bosses and Bloomreaper the Invincible were excluded.
How Season’s Lootings worked
Gearbox’s December 2025 update notes described a temporary bonus: Legendary drops across Kairos had “up to 5x increased rates compared to the usual rates,” with Big Encore Bosses and Bloomreaper the Invincible excluded. The notes do not publish absolute drop percentages, so the multiplier cannot be translated into a specific chance of receiving a Legendary.
“Up to” matters: Gearbox advertised a maximum increase, not a universal fivefold guarantee for every eligible boss, enemy, or item. The studio also said Legendary drops would remain infrequent enough to feel special, consistent with its design intent.
Which bosses and missions were part of the event?
Triple Threat boss rotation
The holiday rotation featured three bosses: Primordial Guardian Inceptus, Primordial Guardian Origo, and Primordial Guardian Radix. They were presented as the event’s Triple Threat; the announcement does not give separate drop-rate figures for each boss.

Weekly Wildcard missions
Weekly Wildcard missions offered a different farming route: Gearbox said each featured a guaranteed Legendary reward that players could earn repeatedly to pursue an ideal roll. That guarantee applied to the mission reward, rather than establishing a guaranteed drop from every enemy or boss.
Did the increased rates remain after January 8?
The Season’s Lootings multiplier was temporary and ended with the event on January 8, 2026. In a subsequent January 2026 update, Gearbox said it was permanently increasing dedicated boss drop rates, describing the change as a response to player feedback from the holiday Season’s Lootings and Triple Threat events. The update did not say that the temporary up-to-5x Kairos-wide event multiplier was made permanent.

Gearbox framed the permanent adjustment as an effort to make boss loot feel like a meaningful increase without breaking the game’s systems. The published announcement does not specify the new rates or provide a numerical comparison with the holiday multiplier.
